Just Back from NCL Sky - Hairdryer

A few quick notes. If anyone has anything specific they want to know ask and I wil lsee if I have the answer.

Someone wanted to know about a hair dryer. I just found it this morning as we were checking to see if we had everything before leaving. The hair dryer is in the writing desk. I looked in the bathroom and closet never thought of looking in the drawer where they keep the bible.

Robes were not there the first day, they did appear in the closet on Weds.

No fruit on the first day in the room like they stated. There was a card where you could choose - apples, oranges, bannanas, pears. I checked all but apples. Got one orange, bannana, and a pear on Weds. no more fruit appeared the rest of the week. Unless I took it from the buffet.

We were in 0266 and yes there seemed to be no air the worst night was Weds. Stayed out in the lounge areas to get air conditioning.

I used my blue & white towel to sit on the balcony chair on Monday evening, they took it on Tues. because it was wet I suppose and didn't replace it. I know not a big deal but I left notes and I tried to get one from the pool guy but he told me I'd have to pay $25 deposit to get one. I did get my towel back last night..it was in my room after we got back from dinner. Would have been nice if both DH and I would have had a beach towel oh well..DH didn't need one that bad.

Tried room service a couple of times as I love cheesecake and after Monday night there were no chocolate or cheesecake selections in the buffet. Mostly brownies, cookies, jello type desserts. Anyway, they did warn me 45 minutes and I was fine with that just want my dessert. First night (Tuesday) they sent strawberry shortcake (which was hard as a rock). I tried again last night and I don't know what it was but it sure wasn't cheesecake. This was after whomever was taking my order went through saying the chocolate sauce on the cheesecake was better than the pineapple. Well I didn't get cheesecake and it wasn't chocolate sauce. It resemebled cheesecake but it had blackberries in it and had a funny texture. Maybe someone knows what it was but I've never had anything like it before.

We ate in the Crosswinds main dining room on Monday evening. The waiter seemed kinda ticked at me when I didn't want wine and then let his assistant take care of us for the remaining time we were there. The food was really good there but DH is not comfortable in a more formal atmosphere so I caved and we ate at the buffet the remaining time there.

Buffet has omelet station every morning, if you do not get there early be prepared to stand in line. There are scrambled eggs if there are any left (this morning I was so tired of waiting I asked them to bring more and I waited there until they brought them).

By Thurs. I had it figured out. Breakfast get there early, dinner get there a little later like 7 or after then the crowds seemed less and you could walk right up to the carving station or pasta station.

If you want a straw to drink if you eat at the buffet get it at the bar outside of the buffet. I don't like drinking out of the plastic glasses they have and there are no straws.

It seemed like they used the outside restaurant on our first day there but then never had anything out there again other than some fruit.

Waffle day was Tuesday and we were leaving on an excursion, so no time for a waffle and they didn't have them the rest of the week. I checked every morning.

Lobster night was optional dress up night, I believe that was Tuesday night. It was windy and raining most of the day on Tuesday, Freeport day. We went on the 13 mile bike ride which was nice even through we were soaked by the end of it.

As someone stated on Weds. we stayed in Nassau until 2 am getting fresh water, instead of leaving at 6pm. We did the stingray excursion in the morning and then the dolphin swim in the pm that day. Stingrays were okay, dolphins were better. Our first cruise so we needed to experience those things. Seemed like the Jeep excursion was really exciting from a few who went on that one.

Thurs. I went to the spa for mani, pedi, facial. If you go to the salon don't get suckered in to the extras they try to sell you, racks up your bill fast. DH was wandering the ship and a maintenance person got stuck in the wall. Evidently there was an opening to go in and it shut and he couldn't get out and was banging on the wall. This was next to the workout area DH said the person in the workout place got someone to get him out.

It seemed they couldn't get a lot of folks to go to the private island they kept announing that they wanted to get the boat full before going over.

We signed up for the Everglades excursion for debark day, since it took us to the Ft. Lauderdale airport. Went down and got my boarding passes printed last night about 6pm (had to be exactly 24 hours from flight time). Went to dinner and then spent some time in the casino. The machines eat the money fast. Had a hard time getting the buy $10 get $10 free machine money card to work in most machines. Anyway, went back to the room and had an excursion cancellation notice on the table. Went back down brought Internet time to change my flight plans since I didn't want to be in the airport all day today. Couldn't do it since the boarding passes were already printed. I'm cheap didn't want to spend the extra $20 to change flights on the telephone and then figured would have to pay the extra since I got the good deal on the flights buying them months early. I planned on staying on the ship until 10 this morning, DH had other plans. He wanted to go right after breakfast, so about 8:30 we left. There were several announcements that those on the ship could express walkoff. I think they wanted us to go. LOL Took a cab to the Ft. Lauderdale airport and in the nick of time got a flight back at 9:30 we arrived at BWI at around noon.

Overall it was a good first cruise. There were a few bumps but what vacation doesn't have them. Next cruise I am leaving from Baltimore.

Didn't even go into on the trip out we didn't have a pilot or co-pilot. They had us all boarded and then figured that out and unloaded us as we waited for 2 hours for the flight crew to arrive. Got to Ft. Lauderdale at around 11:30 on the ship about 1:30.

Things to do on the ship:

Bingo

Wii

Golf

Baseball

Basketball

Shuffleboard

Ping Pong

Nice fitness room with any type of machine you can think of

2 small pools, a few hot tubs, never got in either of them. Did pass them a lot getting to other areas of the ship

They did give us a letter yesteday stating free wine at last nights dinner but we ate at the buffet, we also got a $50 credit. I enjoyed it, it really was an adventure.

That is about all I can remember right now. Other than yes if you have the floor under the outdoor cafe expect to hear chairs moving around at 5 a.m. when they start setting up for breakfast I suppose.

Anyone have any questions let me know. The carpet and walls and paintings and furniture did not look new. Never knew what the old looked like but it didn't seem new to me but it was not horrible, it was pleasant, kinda hot but pleasant.

Yes you do get free drinks with the casino card they did come around a few times and ask if we wanted drinks. They didn't show up on the bill this morning so I suppose they were complimentary.

We were in the casino every night.

When they asked if we wanted anyting to drink, we asked if the drinks were complimentary and were told "sorry, no." So I guess you were lucky! Or we were unlucky! And since we were in a casino, I have to say we were unlucky.....Boy was it tight!

Wow. I got lucky with something on this trip. That's good to know.

I agree, those machines didn't give up much, had much better luck in Vegas than on the Sky. My DH liked the machine that you put quarters into and they drop some. He could play that for quite some time without running out of quarters, at the same time though, I went around wasting a lot more in the slots. LOL

I wonder how much you have to spend to get points. I never did get any on my card. DH's quarter machine didn't take the card.
