Car rental companies in Civitavecchia?

Recommended Posts

We used Hertz last year. Next to the railway station on the main road along the waterfront and about 200 metres from the Fort at the port gate.

Very satisfied with the service we received but check on opening hours for when you want. We picked up and returned on a Monday.

Not only is it easy to rent a car in Civitavecchia; it is easy to drive in and out of the town! I think we used Hertz also.

Do you need recommendations of places to go? We went to Pitigliano and Civita de Bagnoreggio (not sure of spelling). Both were very old and interesting towns. Uphill walk to Civita - not for anyone with a physical problem - but well worth the effort! If you want more information on these towns, please let me know!

Thank you both for your helpful suggestions :)

We had to book with AutoEurope as Hertz was not open on Sunday, this is when our cruise leaves. The rate was not too bad but had to book a 3 day minimum time even though we only need it for 2 days. Cost $227 Canadian Dollars inc. Insurance and taxes.

We are going to go to Orvieto fior a few days and enjoy our pre cruise time there and even go back for our final night in Italy. DH is Italian and knows the region well as his father grew up there.

Thanks again!

My TA just booked us the 3 day car rental (it was cheaper than 1-1/2 days which we really needed it for) - through Hertz - we are picking up in Civitavecchia Sat. a.m. --returning it Sunday evening at Fiumicino airport ---

with the taxes, insurance, etc, and extra for different drop-off point, and unlimited mileage: $176.00 CDN for standard - you may be paying more because of an automatic??

Civita de Bagnoreggio is very close to Orvieto. Please don't miss it!

Incidentally, we were there on a Sunday when Hertz closes at noon. So they told us to just park the car near their office when we returned and to drop the keys through the slot in their door. It was very easy. Looking back on that cruise, it was the most memorable day. Nice to be away from the crowds and the buses.
