What side is port side?

Recommended Posts

Port side of a ship is the side on your left when facing the front of the ship. On Carnival ships the even numbered cabins are located on the port side.

An easy way to remember is Port, Left and Even are all four letter words. :)

Just to end all confusion,

If a ship is docked with its port side next to the dock, it is docked with its port side portside to. If the starboard side is to the dock, it is docked, starboard side portside to. Nothing to it.:D
