Jade08 Posted July 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2008 magic fountain is located at Montjuïc. I would guess 30€-35€ one way in a taxi.
Normandie-BCN Posted July 29, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2008 The taxi from the pier to the Magic Fountain would cost around 10-15 Euro, with pluses from the pier. In any case, you can take the shuttle bus from the pier to Columbus monument and there take the subway at the end of Las Ramblas (green line, Drassanes station) until Plaça de Espanya station which is very near to the fountain. At the end, you may tray El Poble Espanyol (the Spanish village) which is very near and you can go on foot.
sddsddean Posted July 29, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2008 http://www.multimap.com/maps/?qs=barcelona&countryCode=ES&zoom=15&moveMap=-200,200 If you look at the above map and locate 'Espana', this is the Placa d'Espanya. Head down the road coming away from there at 5 0'clock for about an inch and you can see a little blue circle. Thats the magic fountain. Be aware it only works on Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun with first show at 9.30pm. hajekfam Posted July 29, 2008 #5 Share Posted July 29, 2008 You are going to be there on a day when it is open. They do not run every night. http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/albums-en/magic-fountains-montjuic/
Culater Posted July 31, 2008 #6 Share Posted July 31, 2008 Just make sure the fountains are going to be running. There is a big drought apparently in Barcelona and all the fountains are tuned off. We were just there about 3 weeks ago and were admiring something that should have been a fountain but had no water. Then there was another in a different area and figured that there must be a water conservation effort. We didn't go to see or seek out the Magic Fountains but make sure you check out the situation somehow before you make the trek.
Alsacienne Posted July 31, 2008 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2008 I have it on good authority - my Spanish teacher who lives in Tarragona - that as the drought is so severe, there will be no fountains for the foreseeable future to save water. You might like to contact the Barcelona Tourist Office to check if there will be any special dates when you are in the city when they WILL be functioning ......... eg the King's birthday ..... not that I know when that is .... SORRY!
