MSPCUBS Posted August 3, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2008 I'll be on the Freedom in Sept. They have changed Cannes to Monte Carlo. Since this is near the end of the cruise and I am pretty sure that we will be very tired, we are planning on just walking around this city on our own. Is that an OK plan or do we really need to go to Eze or Nice or Cannes?
ab0si Posted August 3, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2008 You don't "need" to do anything - it is your vacation. :) If it were me, I'd head over to Eze, walk up the village and spend the day drinking coffee and people watching. It is avery relaxing pretty place.
Aussieflyer Posted August 3, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 3, 2008 We will be in Monte Carlo in October on the Azamara Quest and we plan to spend the day pottering around - check out the beautiful people (?), have coffee etc. Advice is that Eze is lovely to see but unless we really feel like it, we will have a quiet day. There seems to be enough to keep one busy for the best part of a day and our view is that we are going on a holiday, not a "see as much as you can" excursion. The tourist website is useful and there is a great map of the place with numbers for the sites etc. There was another thread here that gave directions for going through the park/gardens to get into the main area. I will post the Tourist website and map URL when I check it. Hope this helps.
Aussieflyer Posted August 3, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2008 Here is the link to the tourist information for Monaco (and Monte Carlo). Monaco The Things to Do section has info on getting around and the little tourist "train" ect. There seems to be quite a lot is see in the place for a first time visitor. I have heard the Princes Palace is interesting.
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 3, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 3, 2008 Yes, Monte Carlo is a very easy city to walk around and see on your own. There is really a lot to do there. I always tell people who are there for the first time to enjoy this area first without feeling like they have to see other areas. Places to see include the Palace, the Grand Casino or at least the area that surrounds it, the beautiful outdoor gardens that are not too far from the Palace area, the Océanographique, and the Monaco Cathedral, just to name a few. Enjoy. Keith
