fishinglady Posted August 9, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2008 Are the stores in Rome open on Sunday? How late are they open in the evenings on weekends? Do they close in the afternoons like some of the other European cities? - We're trying to see how much shopping time we want to fit in between the rest of our sightseeing (we're only there over the weekend and the Sunday after we get back from the cruise)! - Thanks for any help! Many stores (except for touristy ones) will be closed on Sunday. (Some close early Saturday evening and don't reopen until Monday afternoon!) Smaller stores are more likely to be closed during the early afternoon "siesta" and will reopen around 3 or 4 and stay open until 7:30 to 8. Department stores (e.g., La Rinascente) and larger chain stores may stay open in the afternoon.
cork2004 Posted August 9, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 9, 2008 We too were in Rome on a Sunday. Souveneir shops were open. Many shops were open in Via del Corso(main shopping st) but in Via ****onale only about 30%. If you see something the previous weekend buy it! There's a good chance the shop won't be open the following Sunday!
