We are going April 9th on the Fascination out of JAX. I read that you can board the ship around 1230p and we leave at 4pm.......what do you do if getting on the ship early, are the restrauants open, casinos, kid club??? I tried calling Carnival but didn't get much help from them. thanks!!!

We got to the port at about 11:10 and started checking in. Then waited

to board. We were on the Lido deck by 12:30ish. The time went really fast though.

Once you get onboard go up to the Lido deck to get some lunch, have some drinks and relax....

Your staterooms will be available around 1-2pm. Then you can go see your room and wait for your luggage if you like before your muster drill.

The casino won't open until you are out of the port.... but you can go in and look around... same with the clubs

Camp Carnival is not open that day; they will have a parent kid welcome aboard party (often after dinner) where you will register your children to participate. Our kids are almost 5 and 11, and we have cruised the past two years with CCL - both times we were on the ship before 12. We carry on the bare minimum we need (suggest bathing suits for the kids if they aren't wearing them as the pools should be open) as there is no guarantee what time your luggage will get to the room. Both times we have had it before dinner...but I know other people have not. We head up to the Lido deck and get lunch and then walk each deck with public areas - the room areas are closed off with doors that say room access will be @ 1:30, but we have seen them open earlier. The Spa will be offering tours, and you can register to win a free this or that. We did it one time and didn't win, but clearly people do. You have to be there for the drawing...so if that might be worth it to you, I'd check that out.

You would think they could figure out how to do it on one of the 2 sea days we have on our cruise. Maybe they do it in Nassau to cut down on the Lobsters they have to make... hah

We thought that it was the 2nd night when we were at GBI and left by 7pm but no...

LOL.....reminds me of sneaking coolers out of the house when I was 16 wrapped in towels so the bottles wouldn't clink!

Can anyone tell me, on the Fascincation, I know they did the room upgrades, and have the flat screens now, does anyone know if there are AV jacks in the front or rear? I know on the Liberty the TV channel choice was terrible, not that we'll be inthe room much, but I would like to be able to hook up my portable DVD player for a movie to relax one day.

All ports are accessible. I ran my camcorder and camera through it no problem. Look under the tv towards the rear.

We were in a Cat 12 and I am a woman and had a hard time getting my hands behind it to hook up our DVD player.

Wondering which night is the formal night on 4 day Bahamas/Fascination?

We just took that cruise last week and I was hoping it was Freeport (Friday) for our cruise but no, it was Nassau (Saturday). We missed it because we made reservations for that night somewhere else. Instead, we dressed up Friday night when everyone else was casual. ;)

They may not be exactly the same as Fascination, but what I got on Fascination in November is on these menus so they have to be pretty close to the same.

I can tell you that this was pretty much the same menu we had on the Legend a couple of weeks ago as well. It might be fairly standard across the fleet now.

to buy duty free booze in Nassau? Also Key West?

Check this thread found in the Bahamas forum

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=17380773&highlight=duty+free#post17380773

Key West is in US, no duty free there.

FWIW, a lot of the prices on the ship's duty free store are hard to beat. Selection might a good reason to look in Nassau though at the prices.

Hey everyone...

First time cruiser here, on the Fascination 12.07.09. We are actually getting married on the third day in Key West, and was wondering if the 2nd or 3rd night is formal night? I'd like to wear my dress for more than a few hours, and figured what the hey? Whats more formal than a wedding dress? lol

Thanks!

Wow, congrats!! I have no idea when elegant night is, but I would say, wear your wedding dress even if it isn't that night. Celebrate!!!
