Need opinions on dinner jacket....

DH needs a new dinner jacket and I thought I would surprise him with one for our upcoming Bermuda Cruise. Which do you all think is the better choice, white or ivory?? and...do you have any suggestions where to find one in a hurry. I did check our local formal places and they were no help.

Thanks!

I would definitely opt for off-white/ivory, as all wool dinner jackets are ivory. The pure white ones are usually made of polyester, which I avoid like the plague.

Things to look for are a shawl lapel and preferably a non-vented style (jacket vents were introduced for horseback riding, i.e., sports, and are inherently more casual).

If you know your husband's size, you could try Joseph A. Banks who currently holds a 60 percent Labour Day clearance event:

(it features a centre vent, but the fabric and cut are nice)

Alternatively, you could try your luck at a local Nordstrom Rack or visit bargain Web sites, such as www.smartbargains.com or http://www.overstock.com.

Although the center vent appears to be a bit more casual, it is also, in my opinion, considerably more comfortable, especially when sitting.

The Jos. A. Bank dinner jacket is, in fact, 100% wool and is a good deal right now. Again - my opinion.

BTW, just so you know...I work for Jos. A. Bank, so my opinions may be somewhat slanted...lol.

If you are in a rush I agree with the Joseph Banks. There are very few stores that carry the dinner jackets and Banks is one of the few who does or can easily get it from another store for you.

As the others have said, it is Ivory or off white that you want.

That's a nice surprise for him.
