Royal Caribbean giants call in Cayman

18th. August 2008

============================================

Two of Royal Caribbean International’s biggest ships, Freedom of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas

called at Grand Cayman together, for the first time last week!

The vessels disembarked approximately 9,000 passengers at Georgetown

more than a third of them children sailing on a Nickelodeon Network theme cruise on Freedom of the Seas.

It was the first time the sister ships had visited a port of call together.

The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism organized live music and cultural displays

and an appearance of Diego, the cartoon companion of the Nickelodeon character Dora the Explorer.

Also on hand to welcome passengers with a children’s treasure hunt, rum cake and fruit punch

..with brochures, maps and tourist information

were representatives of Cayman’s two private-sector organizations

the Cayman Islands Tourism Association and the Association for the Advancement of Cruise Tourism.

We were part of the 9,000 that day in Georgetown. I felt everything went very smooth. We were on FOS part of Nick family cruise. No wait for the tender to island or back to boat. We did tour with Native Ways. Got off FOS a little early before tour and had snow cones and did a little shopping. It was very hot, but the snow cones kept us cool.
