My son is very baby faced and they just asked him how old, he was 19 and they said fine. Never actually asked for an ID in the casino.
morgan1312 Posted August 23, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 23, 2008 My son is very baby faced and they just asked him how old, he was 19 and they said fine. Never actually asked for an ID in the casino. Did they ask to see his sea pass? They can tell from that by the number of holes punched in it. 2 holes means under 18 1 hole means between 18 & 21. gdpups Posted August 23, 2008 Author #7 Share Posted August 23, 2008 My daughter's friend said she sailed on the Freedom a few years ago and they didn't let her gamble because she was 18 and the minimum age to gamble is 21. Just wanted to make sure that wasn't the case.

sailinglisa Posted August 23, 2008 #9 Share Posted August 23, 2008 Neither Freedom (Carnival or Royal Caribbean) sails in Alaska this year. 21 in Alaska, 18 everywhere else - but not sure about Hawaii.
Yvie Posted August 23, 2008 #10 Share Posted August 23, 2008 My son had just turned 18 on our Monarch cruise last February. He could gamble in the casino, but they did ask for ID (as in driver's license). We were on the Indy in the Med last month, and he was able to gamble also, though I don't think he was asked for ID on this cruise.

midnight sushi Posted August 24, 2008 #14 Share Posted August 24, 2008 Because the gambling age in the US is 21. compass says intinary-specific laws require 21+ carnival, NCL mention no such laws
Sue L Posted August 24, 2008 #15 Share Posted August 24, 2008 compass says intinary-specific laws require 21+carnival, NCL mention no such laws All the Alaska cruises have a 21 gambling age because you are in US waters. RCCL specifies the law and the others don't it still doesn't change the policy.
midnight sushi Posted August 24, 2008 #16 Share Posted August 24, 2008 does that mean 21+ on those line's alaska cruises?
beachchick Posted August 24, 2008 #17 Share Posted August 24, 2008 does that mean 21+ on those line's alaska cruises? The minimum age for Alaska is 21 on all cruise lines. sailinglisa: While in Hawaii's waters, there is no gambling of any kind allowed on cruise ships. (That's why the NCLA Pride of America has no casino or bingo; the ship is US-registered and had to make certain consessions to Hawaii and US law that internationally flagged ships do not.) I believe that most ships that do the mainland-Hawaii routes have their casinos open during the crossings. I'm going to guess that the age would be 18, but it could be that Hawaii or the US Government require those itineraries to have a gambling age of 21. beachchick
Sue L Posted August 24, 2008 #18 Share Posted August 24, 2008 does that mean 21+ on those line's alaska cruises? It is a law and not a cruise line determined rule. It is the same for ALL cruise ships that visit Alaska.
