Rare ohioNCLcruiser Posted August 23, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2008 spinnaker lounge on deck 13 is great! They have big cozy chairs and when the ships docked its normally empty.
ute_fan Posted August 23, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2008 I agree with James about Spinnakers -- however, we never found a spot when the ship was at sea. I think that in Alaska, particularly, it's a very popular location. We spent most of our time out on the promenade deck. It's enough wider than a regular balcony that you're shielded from the wind, and they provide blankets in case it's cold. There were nice, comfortable lounge chairs out there, and I'd take a book and read, except that the scenery was so gorgeous that I didn't get much reading done. I also spent quite a bit of time in the library -- not the most comfortable chairs in the world, but nice window viewing. Same thing with the game room next door if it wasn't being used. One thing you'll find in Alaska is that a lot of people take a claim to the window seats in the buffet -- sort of like deck chair hogs in the Caribbean, and stay there most of the day. We made friends on the ship who also liked to sit in Mambo's (deck 8) by the windows during the day when the restaurant was closed . On deck 6, I believe, there were window seats that along the area outside the casino where you could find a spot frequently. It seems like they were along the starboard side of the ship, by where the Asian restaurant and Le Bistro were located. I don't remember if they were also in the casino -- they might have been -- but it was too smokey for me to want to stay in there.

I was going to recommend the spa as well; it has a wonderful view. But, we didn't go for the entire cruise package. We only paid for one day, $20.00. There was too much to do to visit every day.
