Seattle port. How is it?

We cruised from Osaka to Seattle on the Sapphire Princess in April/May 2005. The disembarkation in Seattle was a debacle. The luggage was slowly unloaded and claimed in shifts, because there was not enough room in the luggage area of the terminal building to store it all. It was about the size of a middle school gym. Also the unloading was strange. One forklift took the luggage from the ship to a short distance away, where it was put down. Another forklift picked it up and took it to the terminal building. Don't know if it was an union issue.

Of course we, along with almost everyone else, missed our flight. The Seattle AP was a zoo, not equipped to handle 3000 passenger, most of whom had missed their flight. United accepted our ticket to LAX on a later flight, without a problem.:) They just checked us in and said to go to the gate. I have never seen such an AP mad house except in bad weather.

So unless there have been major changes since 2005, plan for a late afternoon flight.

Please note there are actually 2 different terminals in Seattle. Celebrity uses Pier 66 which is downtown right across from the Marriott Waterfront and next door to the Edgewater Hotel.

Princess uses Terminal 30 which is south of downtown in an industrial area. That terminal is basically a warehouse. So two different experiences.

I was just going to say...

I've looked at through satellite imagery and it looks nice. Is that the Marriott that has the bridge crossing over the street to the terminal?

I just got off Infinity a week or so ago in Seattle. Embarkation and debarkation went very smoothly. Less then 15 minutes to get onboard and less then that to get off and get our luggage.

The Seattle Marriot Waterfront is a short walk and across the street from the terminal.

I doubt that 3000 passengers would have any impact on Sea Tac airport at all, other than possibly the cabs and buses. It is actually one of the busier airports in the country, it's not JFK or LAX or O'hare but it does serve then entire pacific rim. Admittedly, the layout can be somewhat of a hassle if you are unfamiliar or have to get from one concourse to another to switch planes.

Pier 66 functioned pretty well when we sailed through there. It could be larger of course but it is very conveniently located. We stayed at the Marriott waterfront and had a view of the ship from the balcony in the morning. A quick stop at the Starbucks and across the street to the ship.

We found a shuttle service from the airport to the hotel to be our best option when arriving. Time wasn't an issue and the price was set.
