would it be reported anywhere?

I only ask as my DH mentioned at dinner last night that a family had been removed from our 9th Aug Jade sailing at Lisbon or Vigo.

I suppose I'm just being nosey :)

I doubt it would be reported anywhere....no reason to......unless charges are filed and the news guys pick it up.

Only if the media got ahold of it.......or the removed passengers made some sort of big stink about the whole thing.

Personally, I think it's great they remove the troublemakers and nitwits who disrupt others vacation.

I agree.

If it happened on this particular sailing, you would think out of the 2,000 some odd people onboard, SOMEONE, would have witnessed or heard something about it and it would have been all over these boards.

Happy Cruising! :)

We were on the Star in March and there was a fight between 3 men. The 2 men that started the fight were put in "jail" on the ship and then escorted off the ship at the next port. We heard stories around the ship during the day and finally at trivia in the evening we asked the asst cruise director and she filled us in on some details.

We heard there were 2 families put off because of repeated vandalism and hooliganism by their children. They were both put off either at Lisbon or Civitivecchio.

Anyone on that cruise saw a large number of children unsupervised and out of control. The ones put off were the worst.

I also understand that when a family is put off a ship by NCL they go on a "No Sail" list and can never book on NCL again. Can you blame NCL?

Not exactly thrown off, but I almost missed my cruise ship when a security dog sat beside my luggage when I was in line for boarding pass. Turns out they discovered traces of explosives.

Explosives? What? Are you kidding me? We we carted off to security and different dog was brought in and he too promptly sat beside my suitcase. Grrrrrrr. They asked if I would open it of my own accord. "Of course!"

3 folks rifled through everything (so much for my expert packing). They found the culprit! My husband's binocs! I told them my husband gave them to me right before I zipped my luggage the day before.

"There are traces of explosives on these field glasses." I said they were his work binocs and I explained what my husband did for a living. They made a phone call and confirmed his identity.

They "repacked" and rushed us to the gate. We made the plane! By the way, both dogs got treats for sitting. Good doggie!

I was on a Celebrity ship in 2001 and I remember eating dinner and someone came on the loudspeaker saying that someone had to be airlifted off of the ship. I think the only reason that they told us was because the ship either slowed down a lot or totally stopped. I would say that they would only announce it or let passengers know is if it has something to do with the ship doing something differently.

Ya, this happens quite often. A few times the ship has slowed to a stop to reboard pax that missed the ship (late excursion, etc.)

We stopped once when an officer had a heart attack and they send a boat to take him back to shore. Last cruise they had a helicopter remove someone. This happens quite often.

When it's a drunk and disorderly, they jail them on the ship then offload them at the next port.

We had a fire on one of our cruises! Fire in the galley at night. We heard alarms, but not general alarms.

The only time they will tell the passengers whats going on is if its a medical problem. Everything else they have no reason to tell everyone!

Except that we're all nosey - Gossip anyone? :D

It's actually a good thing they unload the trouble makers - makes for a better cruise for everyone including staff.

There were about 5 people that were kicked off the ship in St. Maartin on a Dawn S. Car. cruise a few years ago. It seems a group of passengers assaulted a crew member who supposedly gave drinks to one of the passenger's underage sister. We heard arguing and fighting at 3 AM that morning so we knew somthing was up.

We were aware because the activities occurred on our side of the ship while at the pier and we were watching from our balconies. The passenger was trying to justify his actions by screaming his side of the story to the passengers cheering from their balconies.

We rather enjoyed as a bunch of them were left standing, with their luggage, at 7 pm on the pier as the ship pulled away. There were island police on hand too.

We were late leaving the port but no announcements were made. Although I mentioned it in my posts there was no talk of it on the boards, since I think, most were not even aware of it. We were glad to see NCL kick off the troublemakers.

haha..yes I was being nosey. Pity they didn't remove the fat American who dribbled down his napkin he wore as a "bib" every night that in addition belched loudly throughout the meal and his loud overbearing UK wife who complained incessantly.

I'd have cheered then :D

It is always nice to cheer bartenders for serving underage people without checking there ID. :)

Also I never saw in the OP's thread that the family was behaving badly so why do you assume that?

Only because people are put off the ship for good behavior. If you see someone toss off, one can fairly surmise they weren't the best behaved person.

You're right - she didn't say anything about the people other than they were removed.

If you're talking about my story:

Passengers were cheering because the troublemakers were being kicked off! And we only heard the story from the person getting kicked off (he was angry at the passengers cheering)... so I'm sure he and the 4 others did nothing wrong to get kicked off the ship.

There's two sides to every story, but all we saw were 5 passengers getting booted off the ship and left standing on the dock with their luggage. Maybe the crew member involved was in the ship's 'lock-up' or it was determined he did nothing wrong.

As I said, we did not hear anything official, just what we could surmise. But it certainly was interesting to see people getting kicked-off.

I thought you said they assaulted the crew member. I'm confused.

There were 3 families removed on the 26th July cruise too for unacceptable behaviour.Capt Nidal puts the safety of his guests first .

On my particular cruise, one of the passengers getting kicked off said they beat-up a crew member and he was trying to justify their actions. We were not sure if the crew member did anything wrong too.

I don't want to confuse my cruise story of several years ago with the one last month. The OP asked 'if a passenger and family were removed from a ship, would it be reported anywhere?'. I was just relating my particular observation on my 2/05 cruise... Sorry, on my part.
