promenade rooms

Well the only con I can see is that it is not a balcony, but in my mind it was the next best thing. I have nothing bad to say about it, I loved the window seat, it opened up the room so much. I felt there was plenty of space and it was in a very stable location. In fact the cruise was the smoothest ride ever and I do not know it that was the room , the ship, the seas that week, or a combo of all three.:D

my group of eight loved the promenade rooms on EOS in february!! we loved them so much we booked them again on MOS this coming february. one family member wasent' sure about a inside room. as she dosen't like inclosed small spaces. and had no problem in a promenade room. the bay window was great, had a small chair and a small love seat. There was no noise from out side the window other then when there was a parade going on. If you booked on deck seven or eight you will have rooms above and below you that will also help with little noise. had a small fridge(aka bar), only kept temp at room temperature not cold. ice works better. other then that we like the room. :0(

we just got back yesterday from the eos and had two adjoining atrium rooms, 7275, and 7277 which were pretty much centered on the promenade. We loved these rooms. Definatley the next best thing to a balcony. One thing I've read on these boards is that you cant hear the noise from the promenade, just the basic day you cant, but at night you can hear the music from some of the bars. It didnt bother us much, we were so worn out each night that we fell right asleep.

Just returned from MOS had room 7593. Was great the only drawback is a litle less room to move around because of the two seats by the window. Also noted less storage space then Carnival. But all in all an excellent choice. Noise was minimal throughout trip.

We were on the NOS promonade room, throughly enjoyed it..just a few bucks over the price of an inside. Especially if you are a people watcher you can peer down on the promanade. Was kinda neat on parade nights.

But beware when changing or getting ready for bed PULL THOSE CURTAINS cause your neighbor across can peer right into your room..they are directly in line, saw some funny stuff, I wont elaborate on this thread LOL LOL.

I've had three Promenade rooms and always book deck eight. I'll agree that the center of the ship is now my favorite location. I was near the center elevators and could use the stairwell during peak times to reach either the Windjammer (3 floors above) or the Royal Promenade (3 floors below).

No cons to really list. The main pro is that they are almost the same price as an inside (if you book at the right time) and are slightly larger (due to the window, couch area).

No noticable bar noise from up there either. Of course I'm usually out and about until late anyway (casino).

Okay, everyone is saying to book in the middle, but no one is saying why. My teen sons are booked in the very first PR cabin, on deck 8, right next to the elevators. Explain to me why this was a bad choice.

I'll explain in advance that we needed 2 balcony rooms, one that would hold 3 and a PR room directly across the hall for the teens. I also wanted to be near the elevators, since I will have a toddler in tow, so our choices were pretty limited right off the bat.

So please explain to me why the center is better then the ends.

Thanks,

The center isn't a "better" room, its just that you cant see down both sides of the promenade. Also, if your at the front of the promenade you'll be doing a lot of walking to the dinning room and windjammer. Again its not a better room, just a preferance, one thing that would be nice about the end promenade rooms is being able to see the centrums. It really doesn't matter, you'll love these rooms and the cruise!!:D

Is there any difference between a PR room on deck 8 and the lower decks?

The window looks different but I wondered if it affected the room layout?

We are booked into 8579 on the January 15th sailing of the NOS?

MaryL- I'm curious- why do you think it is a waste of $? It was only $20 more pp for us, and I love the idea of a window :)

Cheers,

Digital Curator - we just returned from the Navigator and were in room 6579, just 2 decks below your room. We thoroughly enjoyed it! We watched the parades from our room and had a wonderful view.

We've been in a balcony, inside and now a PR room and for the money, the promenade rooms can not be beat. Inside rooms can tend to give you a disconnected feeling from the rest of the ship, I felt like a gopher down a hole. But with the promenade you just pull back the curtain and you can watch the goings-on and feel like a part of things even when you are in your cabin.

BTW - we enjoyed the room so much that we booked 6579 on the Mariner for next October.

here is a pic of my promenade room from EOS:

just a little warning, the room is a little messie, i think i took that the day we were packing to leave. and i also think the middle rooms means you'll have less motion do to the ship rocking or what ever. Even though there is little movement on these type of ships anyways.

I was going to say that i've forgotten my room number, but as i was typing this i remember i still had my seapass card in my wallet!! hehe my room number was 7263 here is another pic from out side in the promenade. Our rooms were over the cafe promenade(heard no noise):

as you wil see ours were the middle windows there above the cafe.

We had 7291 and 7293 on the Explorer and loved them. The only problem with any inside room, is if the person who had the cabin before you was a heavy smoker, the cabin will reek of smoke. Our cabin was fine, but we could hardly breathe in my son's cabin.

Other than that, we heard no noise except for the parade. These cabins are the best bargin on the ship. An inside room with a view for very little more than a regular inside.

Also, if your at the front of the promenade you'll be doing a lot of walking to the dinning room and windjammer.
I have to disagree with that statement. The front of the Royal Promenade (cabins) is exactly at the center of the ship. It's actually the shortest distance to dining and the Windjammer. I was in 8607 and elevators and stairs were both within 25 feet of my cabin. And all the dining venues were just outside of the elevators.

Some people prefer mid-ship because the swaying motion is felt less. I like it because it's equal distances to either side of the ship.

One other advantage of the mid-ship position is the ice skating show. The elevator takes you directly to the entrance on deck three. Very little walking involved there. The ice skating can be a little tricky to get to from the front of the ship because the hallways do not go through (due to the height of the venue). Hard to explain unless you've run into a bulkhead from decks two or three on the other side.

I have been in 8263 twice (Voyager & Explorer) which was directly above yours. We even watched the DJ spin some music from the small overhang area next to our cabin. Loved having that coffee and doughnuts right below us! :D

Great pictures Arcticz!

We are leaving on Navigator on Dec 24. It is very exciting to see the view of the promenade and a great picture of the inside.

We have cabins 8307/8305 - Can anyone tell me what they look out on in the Promenade.

Oohh just can't wait!

you mean if your in your room looking out the window, the best i can do is this:

http://articz.home.comcast.net/DCP_0228.JPG

looking at the room numbers, 8307/8305 should be the far top left bay windows in that picture. now this picture is of the Explore of the seas. Some thinks may be different but i don't think it should look all that different.

i'm going to have rooms on deck eight in the same group on the Mainer this february, so this is getting me excited again going through all pictures.. :-)

i do have plenty of pictures, if theres something you want a pic of and i have it let me know. but it'll be on EOS.

Digital Curator - this is awful but I can't recall what we faced and it was just last week! We we above the general store so we looked across at the ??? maybe the inexpensive jewerly? I think where several items were $10. (pashminas, jewelry sets, etc.) it will be the first shop after the pursers area and excursion desk area. Sorry I'm not more precise.

It was a lot of fun to watch each of the shops set up tables in the Promenade for each evenings sales.

However, the pictures of the parades that I took from my room did not turn out. The flash reflected off of the window and you see the couch in the window's reflection, not the parade. Perhaps someone who knows how to operate a camera better than I can give advice on this.

Have a great time!!
