superjerryw Posted April 4, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2004 When we sailed the Millennium the food and service were excellent. We were on board for 10 days and did not have a single complaint. <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2004> <param name="month" value=03> <param name="day" value=19> <param name="hour" value=17> </applet> Donuts, is there anything they can't do.... SANDY BEACH Posted April 4, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 4, 2004 Lois, Millennium is the greatest IMO. A very classy ship. Small things that sound kind of corny seem to make the difference. The trays in the Ocean Cafe are covered with white tablecloths. A waiter is there as soon as you approach the end of the line to carry your tray for you. While all alone one day on the promenade deck, a waiter appeared wanting to take a drink order if I so desired. No pressure, just very courteous. Service in the main dining room was the best we have ever had, again, very classy. The cabin stewardess always kept everything perfect and any papers that needed to be taken to the front desk were always delivered by her. We never had to make any extra trips. The Aua Spa is free and a very relaxing setting. One morning we even took our breakfast from the Ocean Cafe into the Aua Spa and sat at the tables in there for a quiet breakfast. We traveled with another couple and their experience was the same. Like I said, all of this sounds pretty trivial but when it was all combined together gave us a GREAT PAMPERED relaxing vaction. Seemed a step above other ships we have been on. Go and enjoy. Life is good.

A definite must sail! Definitely make reservations for the Olympic restaurant. Anita And now Infinity 2005! MSBYRDY Posted April 4, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 4, 2004 Lois We sailed Millennium last summer to the Med. Altho it was a wonderful trip and we had no complaints, we really do prefer the smaller ships. Give me Mercury with a specialty restaurant and I'd be in heaven. Much easier to run into people you've met, just a better experience for us. It was just toooo big. Marilyn
cruising with marti Posted April 4, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 4, 2004 Ah, Zurmolly, sounds like my other favorite line, princess, probably the new Carribean. lois, you might remember that we were on the Millie last fall Trans Atlantic. you are aware of most of the differences but but some other differences I noticed fromour recent mercury cruise. 1- although we were in cc cat. on both ships, our cabin on the millie was larger with a larger balcony, with full sliding glass doors. 2- a lot more pool area. 3- larger martini bar 4- michaels club, although not a cigar bar, real nice with all the wood amd leather, plus a piano player. and of course all of the other things other people have mentioned. phil
Rare Lois R Posted April 4, 2004 Author #12 Share Posted April 4, 2004 thanks for the replies....decisions, decisions Next up...HORIZON Sept 18th to Bermuda!
cruising with marti Posted April 4, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 4, 2004 Marilyn says too big and she certainly is entitled for that point of view. however my view is, size doesn't make any difference. After all there is only a couple of hundred more people on the millie. What you have is larger public rooms including pool area and more of them. We have sailed ships with 1200 passengers to ships with 2800, they are all just great. Phil
Jeanne3150 Posted April 4, 2004 #14 Share Posted April 4, 2004 Millie was warm, inviting, very large - but not crowded, with the friendliest crew I've experienced on Celebrity ships. But Summit's great too..so is Mercury... so is... 10s nut Posted April 4, 2004 #16 Share Posted April 4, 2004 Ok Lois...We will be on the Horizon together and I can tell you, I had great trepidation in booking cause...I was MILLIE SPOILED. Had the aft corner cabin with the HUGE balcony. Have the fear of being balcony deprived. And that Thasso pool...to die for. If you have the chance, go for it!!!!! Rare Lois R Posted April 4, 2004 Author #17 Share Posted April 4, 2004 Hi 10!...hmmmm I am definitely thinking about it... As time goes on, you will learn a bit about me...I go for the cheap cabin..so a balcony is never in my mind or in the equation. Sailing solo is quite pricey...the Horizon is the first cruise in 4 times I will be sharing a cabin and even Ruthann and I are getting an inside. But I do appreciate everyone's thoughts...that is what we are here for..to learn about the experiences and to make friends of course Next up...HORIZON Sept 18th to Bermuda! cruise_girl_too Posted April 5, 2004 #18 Share Posted April 5, 2004 And this will be Ruthann's first time in an inside cabin!
Rare Lois R Posted April 5, 2004 Author #19 Share Posted April 5, 2004 Ruthann...for an extra 100.00 we could get an outside....hmmmm...I never knew that.... Next up...HORIZON Sept 18th to Bermuda!
10s nut Posted April 5, 2004 #20 Share Posted April 5, 2004 I would grab it. The only time I did an inside was a $199 deal on a Princess ship. I guess it was worth feeling like I was in the black hole of Calcutta for that price! However, some people love insides for that very reason! Rare Lois R Posted April 5, 2004 Author #21 Share Posted April 5, 2004 10...I go with insides because they are less $$...that is the reason for me.... Next up...HORIZON Sept 18th to Bermuda!
goouchjac Posted April 5, 2004 #22 Share Posted April 5, 2004 Hi Lois,,,we have sailed the Millie twice, she is just a wonderful ship and ditto to other posts about service, cleaniness, food and etc. We were on her sister ship Summit and just as great...the smaller ships are more intimate, but on the M class you never feel crowded, with 1950 passengers, plus crew you would never know it....I would try it, you won't be disappointed. till our next X cruise, not yet booked, hopefully soon!!!!!
