Weeziblu Posted September 9, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2008 I'm sailing out of Florida. Will I be on "local time" when I arrive in Grand Cayman?
drew sailbum Posted September 9, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2008 It depends. When is your trip? We need to know if it is while Florida is observing Daylight Savings Time or not.
Weeziblu Posted September 9, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted September 9, 2008 Ooooh, right... yes, daylight savings time. We'll be cruising in July 2009
jean-lynd Posted September 9, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2008 Okay then when you are there it will be an hour earlier in Grand Cayman then on the ship. As an example if it is 11:00 on the ship it will be 10:00 in Grand Cayman. I hope this helps!
2VV Posted October 15, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 15, 2008 Same question here, we sail in dec, 08. Will the ship time be the same as GC time?
jean-lynd Posted October 15, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 15, 2008 It depends on the time zone of your departure port and if you ship stays on that time zone or if they change to local time. Every ship I have been on stayed on the departure port time.
LarryR Posted October 15, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 15, 2008 The short answer is...it depends. For Carnival Cruise Lines, it varies, as it's up to each ship's captain and crew to decide whether to follow local time, or stay on the departure port's time. I've experienced both situations. For a somewhat longer answer that says the same thing, here's something I've just begun to work on: http://sites.google.com/site/wesailtheoceanblue/Home/what-time-is-it
