teacup754 Posted October 26, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2004 Let me know everyone's ideas for keeping your valuables safe while you snorkle from the beach. Do you get some kind of waterproof bag and if so what brands, kinds do you recommend for money, credit cards etc.
2BCruising Posted October 27, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2004 Hi Teacup754...I just got a splash caddy in the mail. Magellan's has them at: http://www.magellans.com/store/Luggage___Packing___WaistpacksParent_Splash_Caddy?Args= Also, I found an Otter box at a local dive shop. But LLBean sells them at: http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?storeId=1&catalogId=1&langId=-1&categoryId=32547&sc1=Search&feat=sr I'm almost packed. Getting ready for our upcoming Golden Princess cruise this coming Sunday. Can't wait!
zydecocruiser Posted October 27, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 27, 2004 These are the people that make Splash Caddys. Magellans is a dealer for them. I find the 4x7 bags work great for holding cash, a credit card or two, cruise card and id and they ARE waterproof (if you zip them). There are a number of sizes depending on what you are trying to protect. If you just put them in your pocket like I do, beware that they will float away if you jump in the water and the pocket doesn't have a zipper or velcro or something. http://www.watchfuleyedesigns.com/index2.php
Hilary Posted October 27, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 27, 2004 I bought a Splash Caddy (the small fanny pack one) years ago and didn't like the way it felt while snorkeling. We now use a small pelican box that we can use while diving, snorkeling, or just playing in the water since it's good to over 100'. We have the one that's basically credit card sized, but would hold like 10 credit cards and cash folded up. Since the pelican box is hard, we never have to worry about the seal like we did with the Splash Caddy.
