Artemis - New England

Hallstone

Recommended Posts

We are cruising to New England on 3oth September, 2008 and returning on the 30th October. We start at Port Canaveral, Charleston, Baltimore, Norfolk Vi, New York, Newport, Rhode Island, Boston and finally Bar Harbor.

Has anyone done this cruise and if so what short of weather can we expect and what type of clothes do we require on shore at our ports of call?

Many thanks

Weather could vary a great deal between southern ports, like Port Canaveral, and northern ones, like Bar Harbor. In late October, you can expect cool temperatures in New England - probably Fahrenheit 50 - 60 (Celsius 10 - 15). Florida temperatures will likely be Fahrenheit 68 - 86 (Celsius 20 - 30).

October is a wonderful time to see seasonal color in New England.

(Welcome to Cruise Critic! Hope you have a wonderful cruise...it's a terrific itinerary.)

There are a couple of other places on Cruise Critic where you should also look for answers to your question:

Ports of Call/New England: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20

North American Homeports/East Coast Departures: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=415

The Ports of Call forum in particular will be full of information about the places you will be visiting plus it will have more traffic from CC members who can answer your questions.

Dress in layers. As a New Englander, I can tell you that by late October, it can get quite chilly at night (even below freezing, especially the further north you go), however, there have been years when the temperatures have been hot during the day.

Lived in NE for 25 years. That time of year be ready for just about anything. It will probably be mild, 60-70. But it could be from the 30's or the 90's.

I'd pack a couple sweaters, just to be safe. Some long sleeveshirts that you can roll up if it gets too hot.
