options for minor consent if father whereabouts unknown ??

My 11 year old son and I are going on a Royal Caribbean cruise to Mexico and Belize. I just found out Mexico (and I think Belize) requires a minor consent form. My son does have a passport.

While the father is on the birth certificate, we were never married; he has not had a role in my son’s life, has not offered or pays any child support, and obviously not a decision maker. Basically his only role was he signed the birth certificate.

What are my options as we do not know his whereabouts or have his contact information? Help! :confused:

I strongly suggest you contact US Immigration for guidance. Perhaps there is some sort of Affadavit of Single Parent custody that can do done, but you need an official answer that you can print and rely on if challenged.
