Bingo $$$

Just finalizing my packing list for this weekend's cruise and I'm trying to figure out how much cash to bring along. I don't like carrying more than I need (I have a walletful of credit cards LOL) but I don't want to be short either. My question, if anyone knows, if you play bingo do they take Sail & Sign cards (or whatever NCL calls them) or do you have to pay with cash? Thanks!

Way overpriced bingo. I think on my last NCL cruise the last day of bingo was over $ 200. My bingo tab for a week was almost $900.00. Thank goodness I hit a 2500 jackpot on my last night in the casino.

$900? WOW!! That is too expensive. I guess I'll stay away from the bingo room. :)

Since you already know on board expenses are charged against your on board account.....

Bingo CAN be expensive, but it can also be less expensive than being mentioned here. Granted it's not inexpensive like going to local fire halls, churches, carnivals and such, but no need to fear a $900 tab either.

First, you don't have to play every time they have it. Second, there's 2 ways to play; paper boards or electronic.

The paper boards are a bit of a pain, because they are the punch type. You have to push the number through and bend it backwards. They did mention that dobbers are permitted on our 9/14 Spirit cruise, but I've yet to see anyone bring any.

The downfall is getting them to call slow enough to buy any real quantity of paper boards. A lot of folks take the electronic options, which have a ton of cards loaded on the hand held machine. The cheapest electronic option they have is around $50.

They only play 4 games per session.

Thanks everyone! I usually do some bingo b/c it seems that it takes longer to lose my $$ there than in the casino but if the machines are minimum $50 (and to be competitive I guess you really do have to have a machine) I could probably just spend the same amount right in the casino LOL! :p

I do a little of both, but I'll admit my bingo visits have been drastically reduced. We mainly show up towards the end to get our raffle tickets for the free cruise and to get a shot at the progressive bingo jackpot (when they have one).

We just got off the Norwegian Star and played Bingo 2 times on the ship. My friend and I split the cost, she bought one time and I bought the other. Both times we played the computer and paper for roughly $85 each time. with that cost we had the computer, a 3 face card, and 4 instant strips. We did not win either time and I must say it was not worth the cost.

I was on Carnival about 3 years ago and the cost was not as expensive....or was it? On Carnival, you pay for each game at between 5 and 10 per game and you get 3 sheets. So for 4 games with 3 cards per game you would pay about $25 - $30 I think. Plus if you wanted extra sheets and if you want instants. This was $85 for the computer, cards, and instants for all 4 games. So yes more expensive, but more chances for the games.
