B&J1 Posted October 1, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2008 Does HAL ever offer discount specials like RCCLs "WOW" promotions? If so, any idea how often. I'm planning on sailing on the Veendam in June of '09 & thought I should wait for a sale to sail :)
Betsy's Mom Posted October 1, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2008 I would book now if you are sure you want the cruise. I booked a month long cruise nine months before and had to be wait listed for any of the cabins I would have chosen. HAL cruises book up fast! :) B. pms4104 Posted October 1, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 1, 2008 Does HAL ever offer discount specials like RCCLs "WOW" promotions? If so, any idea how often. I'm planning on sailing on the Veendam in June of '09 & thought I should wait for a sale to sail :) I don't know how RCI's promotional offerings relate to the final payment due date ... but I would guess these sales are offered when sailings are at/near final payment date and are not yet near full. They want to get more heads in beds to sail more nearly full. The hope, of course, is that once onboard passengers will drop a wad at the bars, spa, casino, art auction, etc. Those areas add a lot to the revenue stream. HAL does offer sales and promos, some of which are for "new bookings only" ... I think the really cheap deals, if there are any, come when fiinal payment is approaching or passed and HAL does what they need to in order to fill those berths. Krazy Kruizers Posted October 1, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 1, 2008 Veendam -- June 2009 -- sounds like Alaska. Alaskan cruises sell out quickly!! I would not wait for a sale for this cruise. In fact I have seen very few cruise sales for Alaska. Book now so as not to be disappointed.
hammybee Posted October 1, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 1, 2008 The RCL "WoW" sale is a one day sale and is typical of cruise line promotions. The current one ( 10/2) includes a 50% deposit reduction and $50-200 OBC, dependent upon cabin booked. I saw some inside and low grade outside cabins on the Veendam go for as low as $65 p/p, per day ( Dbl occupancy) on 14 day sails ( pun intended) this past summer. This fare was exclusive of port charges, taxes, fuel surcharges and hotel service charge. If you are not particular about cabin and have some flexibility on timing, why not wait it out. Williebill Posted October 2, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 2, 2008 You might want to check the special offers on the HAL web site. They always have some Alaskan offers.
