Type of Tender used in GC

A friend (Mrs CT) will be arriving in GC by cruise ship (Royal Caribbean.) She is planning on meeting her daughter, SIL, sister and other family members who will already be there as they are flying in for a couple of weeks. They are planning on getting together to celebrate her sister's birthday. Mrs CT is now in a wheel chair and is wondering is the Tender the kind of boat you can walk (or wheel) right onto to OR do you have to step down. I am sure people who have used Tenders know what I am trying to ask.

I am also going to post this on the Royal Caribbean site so I have all my bases covered.

The tender we used in Grand Cayman last year off of a Carnival ship was the kind you had to step down into. The water was pretty choppy so it was almost like a jump into the tender. There will be people there to help her into the tender. There were elderly people on the tender with us. But I can not recall if any where in wheelchairs.

I'd call RCI to verify, but as the ships have HC accessable rooms, I recall that the tenders also have ramps. I think they would be able to accomodate your requirements either way. Enjoy your stay in GC - it's a beautiful island!

Thank you. I am lucky enough not to need a wheel chair but my friend just started using one this past year because of severe A-Fib attacks and it has been a real eye opener to all of us.

Everyone - don't take anything for granted. Savor every precious moment that you are able to use your eyes, ears, and legs.
