How does this work? Do you have to take the glass right away, is it one per person, do you get a sticker on your head to show you had your glass, or are there waiters walking around/

just thought i would ask- I like to plop my stuff down before I get a drinkie- anyone know?

Thnak you

Kathy

There are servers standing at the entrance to the atrium as you board. You have a coice of Champagne or Mamosas. No limit as far as I know as we had a couple each. There will be additional servers walking around the atrium and just outside on deck.

BTW....the sticker wears off by the end of the 3rd or 4th day of your cruise! :D

Enjoy your cruise! :)

Hey, DustyRoad, they really are tasty! You can also get a Mimosa and/or a Bloody Mary for half-price (on other days) until 11:00 a.m....at least you could last April. I hope they didn't drop that perk with the F2 changes. Do any recent cruisers know if they are still available for half-price?

In May, they gave free drinks in the casino to anyone with a Casinos at Sea card, as long as you were playing. You had to be playing, otherwise no freebie.

I seem to recall reading that this is not being offered any longer but I'm not certain of that. If it's still offered, don't forget to tip the server.

Maybe a recent cruiser can confirm the current policy.

Happy Cruising! :)

Cruised last week on the Sky....... NADA!

That's too bad. Maybe it was a "test" program that did'nt give the results NCL hoped for. Thinking back on it, those "free" drinks cost me more than if I had paid for them. Go figure!

Happy Cruising! :)

According to CAS when I asked them about that, it was a "trial" but unfortunately too many took advantage of it and would put $10.00 in a slot machine and would play one penny or nickle or quarter at a time until someone came by with a drink for them and then they would cash out.. have their drink.. and then start all over again. Which we all know was not what the program was intended for. It was to reward those that were actually in the casino to play. I recommended they they check with their programmers and see if their system could support having it where after you played for a minimum amount of time or dollars, the slot machine would spit out a ticket for a free drink. We were in a casino that actually did that once, although I can't remember where we were. I do think it was an Indian casino. It would spit out tickets for free drinks, free dinners, etc. and it was all based on your play while using your card.

That's a good idea. Sort of like the Trump One Card. You earn free nights, dinners, gifts, etc. based on your level of play. You go to a machine and scan your card and review your "rewards" and print the related tickets.

Happy Cruising! :)

yes with orange juice.

When they first started doing it it was only the champaine. Then I guess NCL noticed it was costly so they started adding the juice.

Either that, or they were influenced by where their headquarters is located. Mimosa's have been a often requested drink here in the South. We sailed right after 2.0 started and they were offering Mimosa's then.

When we sailed on the Gem in April 2008 it was out of NYC. So i dont know if thats the case. Then maybe some places they add juice and some dont? I'll be sailing out of NYC on the 26th lets see if juice gets added or they keep it the same as it was in april.

Our experience with the mimosa vs champagne thing: When we first boarded, the trays had only mimosas and plain OJ, but another server came in ASAP with a tray full of just sparkling wine - they had run out and were simply replenishing. Upon passing the boarding area several times while exploring the ship, they sometimes had the wine, sometimes not. We did not try to sneak a second glass. The servers stand just inside the embarkation door, and people grab one as they board.

You know. it may vary ship to ship. If they follow suit, there should be a choice for you. Sparkling wine or a Mimosa. Thats how it was for us at least.

I don't think they use a sticker' date=' on your forehead, because you could just remove that. I believe they use a red sharpie.:D

I fooled them, I put clear tape on my forehead and then peeled it off after they marked me :D :D :D

Answer to two questions:

Yes, they do still have the half price mimosa, bloody mary until 11:00 AM--at least they did on the Dream last week, and I took advantage

Yes, we were served the champagne right as we boarded--a tad awkward with the bags and all, but still nice--and yes you could easily get another, although once it wasn't that busy it was fairly noticable and a little uncomfortable. I would suggest that two maybe even three is acceptable, but the point is not to swill them down. However, if that is your purpose in life and you revel in what you can get at no cost, there are no stickers. . .

And, as an aside to the mimosa discussion. When we boarded, there was champage or orange juice. The OJ was in a champagne glass but was for those who did not want alcohol. It was not a mimosa. Maybe this varies ship by ship.

Can I have my son's too? He is under 18, so I am sure they won't let him have one, and after all, I have paid for him to go on the cruise at the same cost as a third adult in a cabin. I'll ask for a Bucks Fizz instead, and see if they know the difference.;)

I assume that NCL haven't changed their Draconian attitude towards alcohol, and the under 18's to one more in line with Europe? After all, it is a Norwegian Ship, sailing from Barcelona in Spain, in the Mediterranean sea.

In fact, I think I will try to pay my bill in Euros.:D
