happycruiser1942 Posted October 14, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2008 We are booked in Feb 2009 and right now RCI is offering a residency rate special for Ohio, can I call the TA and have that applied toward a price drop?
linkerbink Posted October 14, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2008 Sure, so long as the residency rate doesn't apply to new bookings only.
Arizona Cruz Chic Posted October 14, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2008 We had 3 rate drops and then a resident rate was offered for an even lower rate, so I called and go tit changed in a matter of two minutes! Make the call before its gone!!! :) ***

Sue L Posted October 14, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 14, 2008 Sure, so long as the residency rate doesn't apply to new bookings only. Residency discounts have NEVER been for "new bookings only" and don't give them any ideas.;):D

Lynn the Cruiser Posted October 14, 2008 #9 Share Posted October 14, 2008 Where/How do you find out about residency rates? GOOD QUESTION!! I always check and never notice any for my state. How and why do certain states get picked????
Sue L Posted October 14, 2008 #10 Share Posted October 14, 2008 Where/How do you find out about residency rates? go to the RCCL website and pretend book your cruise with the same category and make sure you check off the boxes for 55+ and military if they apply and also the drop down box for which state you are in. If anything applies when you get to the room categories there will be two prices, one for the regular and one underneath it for the discounted rate. Sue L Posted October 14, 2008 #12 Share Posted October 14, 2008 Sue...do you know how and why certain states get picked???? there is probably some very convoluted equation based on what states are booking and ones that aren't but my personal theory is that C & A sits around and throws darts at a map to see which states are getting it this week. :D
AllieInMD Posted October 14, 2008 #13 Share Posted October 14, 2008 And don't count on the residency rates listed on the promowave - I got us discounts for MD and VA by doing a ghost booking - they weren't on the promowave - I check on the website every day - sometimes 2x/day. Where/How do you find out about residency rates?

wrp96 Posted October 15, 2008 #16 Share Posted October 15, 2008 I like that theory too, Wrona. How's things?? Could be better, could be worse. An old ankle injury has flared up making it hard to walk, but work's going decently so really can't complain. Wish I was on a cruise though! masterbaker Posted October 15, 2008 #19 Share Posted October 15, 2008 Residency discounts have NEVER been for "new bookings only" and don't give them any ideas.;):D Thanks for the reminder. A new booking only rate for one of our cruises just went to a residency rate today and today I got the discount that was refused this past weekend when it was a new booking only rate.
