LadyLeo84 Posted October 16, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2008 We will be going on a cruise that ends in Montreal. What would be the best way to get to the state-side of Niagara Falls from there?

LadyLeo84 Posted October 16, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted October 16, 2008 Thanks LHT28 for the info! We have never been in that area before, so really have no idea about the modes of transportation from Canada to the U.S. We thought about driving, but didn't know about being able to take a rental car from Montreal into New York. Utimately, we need to be near a large airport to fly home (we live in the southwest U.S.) If we do decide to visit the Canadian side of the falls, is there a large airport near there? Thanks, again for all of your help. Trudy

Trudy You can either fly home from Buffalo, but then you might incur extra fees for returning your car rental in the US, or fly home from Toronto, which will probably be more expensive for the flight but less for the rental. I would price both options and see which makes more sense.

Thanks, again for all of your help. Trudy The Buffalo airport is not far from N.F. If you are driving just leave the car on the Canadian side & take a shuttle or taxi to BUF it is done all the time from the hotels there Check with the rental car agency to see what the rules are ...sometimes there is a steep one way drop charge. If you do not want the hassle of driving I would take the train you could do a stop in Toronto for a few days then get off in N.F. & take a shuttle from N.F. to BUF Enjoy your trip

LeftcoastBC Posted October 16, 2008 #8 Share Posted October 16, 2008 I'm seconding the car. Should be no problem with a drop in Niagara Falls at all and it's just a short hop after that to Buffalo airport. Next the train. some grreat lake views along the way. Ephraim Posted October 16, 2008 #9 Share Posted October 16, 2008 Kayak, up the St Lawrence. :) You can take plane, train, bus or automobile to Toronto. I think everything but the plane to Niagara. Or you can fly to Buffalo. Remember that flying from Canada to the US incurs a lot of additional charges (immigration, us customs, agriculture, etc). And you will need your passport, sans fautes.
