The ship is indeed real....we will be doing a launch piece in due time.

Here is a photo of Silversea's Silver Spirit taken within the last few weeks at the Fincantieri Ancona shipyard. There is also a deck plan in our lunch room, so she is very much on schedule and very real....

Jacko - Sorry I was not able to post this before you sailed. I hope you are able to check while on board or perhaps upon your return. Stay tuned for more updates later....

Hi Steve;maybe you can fill us in on the Shadow 11-16 panama canal viking cooking seminar trip which i understand is no more;the main reason for the trip was this advertised special; I sent an e mail to SS on this but got no response.. It certainly does not reflect well on Silversea to not only cancel it and then not respond to an email from a customer who has traveled many times and spent a lot of money with Silversea. a responce would be appreciated

Sorry there, but this is a thread on the Silver Spirit new build.

Your Question about another ship is off topic and should be placed in a new thread..

Thanks for the update Steve!!

Much appreciated....

Is her build running to schedule, and will her Maiden season still be in

early 2010 ??

Congrad's on the new Aussie office in Syd and the new senior appointments for Queensland and Western Austraila. It's about time SS invaded down under on a permenant basis.

I've enjoyed dealing with Steve Odelle, SS could not have picked a better fella to head your business down here.

He's a real nice guy, with a wicked sense of humor.......

Now! if you could just lower some of those Solo Supp's, you will see me onboard a whole lot more!! Wink! Wink!

Thanks for taking the time to pop in here, you presence is valued and much appreciated.

There are no other company rep's that visit the other Lux boards..

So your actions show why Silversea is top of their game and my favorite cruiseline...

Dear Mr Tucker:

Hopefully, there is still time for two small but significant suggestions for the newbuild Spirit:

1. The toilet paper holder - Hopefully it will be slightly larger than those on the Shadow/Whisper, such that the larger American double rolls (when the ship is in this hemisphere) will fit well besides the smaller European rolls. When we were on the Shadow in December, 2004 and again in 2007, the rolls felt "sticky" especially at the beginning of each roll.

2. The toilet bowl itself - It is somewhat small and the (suction) water does not flush completely on the Shadow/Whisper. Often we had to flush several times, sometimes we had to pour a glass of water around the rim of the bowl by hand (to flush the stuff towards the bottom first) before it will flush away completely. Just last month, when we were on the Oceania Nautica, their cabin washrooms (albeit miniscule) had good, effective toilet bowls that always flushed completely (all around the entire bowl) such that it was clean every time. This is one department that Silversea should borrow from Oceania, their toilet bowls brand name is "JETS". Perhaps the cabin designers for the newbuild Spirit will kindly look into this.

Hope the above helps. Wish you all the best .. meow!

We are so delighted to see our suggestions adopted. The toilet bowls on the newbuild Spirit is, "JETS"! It may be a coincidence, or someone might have read our suggestion and looked into it.

Now, the toilet paper holder is a rod unerneath the bathroom counter. It surely fits all sizes of toilet paper. While its location may not be so convenient, we cannot think of a better place to put it under the circumstances.

Unless they figure out a better place for the towels, the tp will continue to be in an awkward place.

By the way, does anyone agree that the cabin is lacking in hooks for clothing? There were none in our closet and only one in the hallway.

While there might not be enough hooks, there were 40 wooden hangers in our walk-in closet. There was a board above the hangers and another board just above the floor. This left enough height for most clothing, unless you were tall and the coats full length. All hangers were on one side of the walk-in closet. We will discuss this further in "The Cabin" section to be posted on our thread some days down the road.

You must have been in our cabin on the following voyage. We asked for a few extra hangars and many arrived. Then each day when laundry came back more hangars arrived!
