Sam of the Seas Posted April 16, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2004 Ok, I was blissfully unaware about cabin categories when we went on our first cruise last year on EOS. I thought we simply had an "inside cabin." Now we are booked for NOS. Looking at the deck plans on line this is shown as at Cat. D-9, but the rep. at RCI said it was a D-2 (Superior Oceanview Stateroom). What is the difference and can someone please explain in plain English this category thing? You have my utmost appreciation! BaumD Posted April 16, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2004 RCCL recently changed all of their category designations. An "old" D9 is now a "new" D2. It's the same cabin just called by a different number. Here's a list of the cabins: http://www.creative.rccl.com/sales/Royal/General_Info/Flyers/SL03-121351_RCI_Cat_ModDepl.pdf
RiverRev Posted April 16, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 16, 2004 Sam, Categories may reflect better location on the ship. An N inside cabin is on a regular deck. An M is on the suite level. It's the same cabin, but in a better neighborhood. On the other hand, RCL recently changed the categories on NOS to make a little more money. What they did is reclassify all cabins that accomodate more than two people, change the letter and up the price by $50pp. In addition people wanting to take a third or fourth person pay the regular extra person rate. Your D-9 probably is a standard balcony cabin on deck 9 reclassified to a D-2 because it accomodates 2 people. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Navigator Of The Seas 1/
