PaperSniper4 Posted November 2, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 2, 2004 Looking for recommendations for "non-excursion" snorkeling in these ports, including a ranking: Barbados St Kitts St Maarten Antigua Princess Cay Also any other suggestions on things that a couple in their 50's might want to see. Thanks.

VTSnorkeler Posted November 11, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 11, 2004 We're hitting 3 of those ports in Jan. Here's what we have planned Barbados - Snorkle with turtles and shipwreck/reef St Martin - Hang out at Orient Beach and rent wave runners Antigua - Eli's tour (he stops for 2 or 3 snorkeling opportunities) We've been to Princess Cays before, the snorkeling is marginal at best, but there's a great beach volleyball court there :)

screagan Posted November 13, 2004 #7 Share Posted November 13, 2004 Which outfit are you going with for the turtle shipwreck snorkel? What do you mean by "which outfit?" We are doing the "Swim with Turtles, Shipwrecks, Snorkel & Beach" excursion for 52.00 USD (in March). This really does sound like fun, huh!? Also, I can't wait to ride the waverunners at Orient Beach. The only thing that you forgot, was the parasailing :). We'll be doing that too hopefully! There are several independant catamarans that do this tour. There are a bunch of threads about it in the Barbados forum. I think we will be doing Cool Runnings and do the 5 hour tour which includes lunch and drinks for 70$pp
Orcrone Posted November 14, 2004 #9 Share Posted November 14, 2004 Last week we went with Eli on Antigua. Had two snorkeling opportunities. At St. Maarten went to Dawn Beach. The surf was a bit rough, but was still able to snorkel. Pinel is also supposed to be good there.
House_Atreides Posted November 15, 2004 #10 Share Posted November 15, 2004 Loved Pinel Island off of St. Maarten; the guides were great if you were a 1st time snorkeler...and even though it's not recommended....they bring fish food out to the reef and the the fish just school....awesome photography. The water is nice and clear there too.
leslee Posted November 16, 2004 #11 Share Posted November 16, 2004 Do they still have the goats on Pinel Island? We were there a few years ago...weather got cloudy and rainy so the snorkeling was not good and there were lots of goats on the island that got into everyone's things. Would like to go back there on a day when the weather was nice and try the snorkeling again.
