What is there to do during sea days?

Are there still only 24 hours in a day? Whew ...

Our favorite transatlantic was a seven day westbound cruise on Brilliance of the Seas from Harwich to Boston in 2002. No ports of call in between and five of those days were 25 hours long to get us back on East Coast time. Next year our Jewel westbound TA has five full days at sea after we leave Reykjavik, Iceland until we reach Boston. Sheer heaven.:)

We just got off the Mariner on Sunday. She is a beautiful ship. There is so much to do that we didn't get time to do several things we had wanted to do on the ship. The crew were excellent and the best captain we have had on any cruise.

You may opt to stay busy all day or relax as has been suggested. Speed is down during the day so you can really just go with the flow.

Hope you enjoy your trip. We are sorry they are moving the Mariner because we would go on her again if she had stayed in Fla.

i can't elaborate any more on why to take a cruise with sea days. everyone else has pretty much covered the main reasons. I love the sea days.

But here is a little hint to help you make your sea days more enjoyable. If you have a Meet & Mingle for your cruise, pass around a sheet of paper with ideas for games to play on sea days. You might want to feel the people out before you sail on the thread for your cruise. We did that for our last cruise where we had 7 straight sea days. I played a game I never played before and enjoyed myself.

Good Sailing,Murf

Oh Please. Everyone be honest. Sea days are about the casino, a trivia or other activity, a nap, and sex.

:)

Roger that. DH does the casino alone while I read my book for a while. The rest of it we enjoy together. Sometimes a few times. ;)

ditto........I thought I was the only one wanting to do this:D

We've yet to do a sea day on RCCL and I'm personally a little nervous how my gf will handle it. But I am looking forward to it myself as I know what its like to just have time to kill at sea. And any day on a cruise ship has to be 1000000000s of times better than my last "sea day"

Sea days! Gotta LOVE them! I intentionally book cruises with plenty of sea days, though this last trip, we stayed aboard during one of the inport days, and found the pool area totally empty! Hmmm, maybe we'll book a port intensive trip next time and just stay aboard!

Count me in. What is even better than sea days is staying on the ship in port, that is the greatest!!!!!

I've heard this from several people, but I personally couldn't disagree more.

I love sea days like everyone else here, but really do enjoy the opportunity to get off the ship for a while, and experience activities off the ship.

To me, a "perfect cruise" would have about the same number of sea days as port days, like many of the Caribbean cruises. That's not to say that I wouldn't want to do a Transatlantic or Transpacific, or a very port intensive cruise, but I like the mix.

There are also demonstrations on how to make towel animals, napkin folding, Q&A with captain and officers, wine-tasting, art auction, ice sculpting. These are not all available every day, of course, but there is always a variety of "stuff" to do onboard. As someone already mentioned, just check your Compass (daily activities sheet) for what is going on.

Oh, I love "at sea" days when you don't have to do a thing or can do any and all of the things available on board the ship! It's so nice to be able to relax and ENJOY THE SHIP - which is half the trip, after all. I like not having to get ready for a shore excursion, rush through breakfast, miss or having to buy lunch ashore and then hurry back to the ship hot and tired after a day doing whatever (shopping, shopping, shopping) in the port of call. For those who just "can't sit still", believe me, there is plenty to do!
