Luggage service?

Truffle

Recommended Posts

I know this has been covered somewhere but I can't find it now. Does anyone know anything about the luggage service that transports your luggage to the airport after disembarking? If it's available, how does it work? How do you pick up or check in your luggage at the departure airport? I wish Celebrity had the service which would ship our luggage TO the ship from home!

:) When you sign up for it you provide your airline, flt. #, destination etc. They will give you new tags for your luggage. Put it outside your door the last night, and you won't see it again until you collect it at your final destination.

Well worth $20. per quest.l

Luggage service is sometimes available. It has depended on which port, which airline, ultimate destination, citizenship, and flight times. And even then it must pass through the airline and an airport pre-screening process that rejects a certain percentage on a random basis. We've also only seen it on cruises originating from the USA - and not on cruises originating in another country and ending at a USA port.

Generally if you're traveling round trip to/from a USA port (including San Juan, PR), a citizen (or maybe also a resident alien) traveling to a USA point on a major airline from the closest major airport to the cruise ship after noon on the day of disembarkation it has been available. The procedure has been that you have to get off the ship with one of the earliest groups (despite the fact that you can't have an early flight), pick up your luggage and clear customs, then check it on the other side of customs. It has been $20/pp and you get your luggage tags and boarding passes on board. Details and availability are generally known only about mid-cruise when the forms for sign-up are circulated and advertised in the daily bulletin.

Does anyone know whether JetBlue participates in the program at Fort Lauderdale?

Our flight doesn't leave until about 2:00PM so if we could get our bags delivered to the airport, we could do something else in the meantime.

Thanks in advance!

The dailys from a March 2007 cruise indicate it was American, Delta, Continental and United only. Things might have changed since then.

I know that Jet Blue participates in RCCL's service (started this spring) so it should be the same with Celebrity.
