Dee777 Posted October 31, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 31, 2008 I registered a couple days ago for the OPC club, seeing as I made a sizable donation back in January ;) This is the reply I received: Thanks for contacting the Ocean Players Club! We're glad to hear your sailing again! We have placed you on our OPC guest list for your upcoming sailing. Hope you have a great cruise, and the best of luck while spending time in the Casino! Soooo... is this just a standard letter of acceptance? Does this mean they are not going to comp us anything when we return? How does it work? We are regular patrons of the Vegas casinos, and are aware of how THEY work (and they DO like me rather well there lol), just wondering if this is different? Thanks for any info! Happy Halloween, all! Dee
klfrodo Posted October 31, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2008 Standard letter. The casino host MAY introduce themselves to you and buy you a drink, but don't think Vegas.

pnjkeith Posted October 31, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 31, 2008 I am also an OPC member! With luck you might get a hello from Casino Mgr if you loose lots of money. Its not Vegas, Its Carnival! Good luck, we had a great time in Casino on last cruise, but no comps.

skylock Posted November 1, 2008 #9 Share Posted November 1, 2008 I agree. Same letter everyone gets. Sometimes I get something, sometimes not. I have not noticed a pattern or a rhymn or reason why sometimes I get a gift and others I don't. My favorite was in Jan I had a plate of choc covered strawberries. And they were so good. I have also had a photo coupon once. A couple of other things I can not remember. Sometimes it was in my cabin on arrival, and sometimes given to us at dinner. Luckysll Posted November 1, 2008 #10 Share Posted November 1, 2008 I have just registered for my cruise in two weeks and got that same letter today. On my last cruise, I received chocolate covered strawberries, and a free drink coupon in my cabin. On the last night of the cruise, I received a bottle of wine at dinner compliments of the casino (tells you how much I gambled :D ). Two other people at the table also received bottles of wine, so it was a fun dinner! I do it just for fun. If I receive anything, fine, if not, then that's okay....I'll be in the casino no matter what.

It isn't that I expect anything, just was curious to know how it worked with the casino club on board. In Vegas, it simply ROCKS!!! Free hotel rooms, limos, dinners, cocktails... yippee! I LOVE Vegas.... now, if they could only fit the city on a Carnival ship :D:D:D
Blackchips Ahoy Posted November 1, 2008 #12 Share Posted November 1, 2008 Hey wait a second!!!!!! You might have some cash coming to you so you HAD BETTER CALL OPC on Monday. We sail every month or so and I always fill out the web form like you did. Then, about 2 or 3 days later, I call the 1-800 OPC number at the site and I talk to Barbara, or Michael and VERIFY what the casino has for us in the way of comps. Don't get burned by just taking a form letter response as golden. I've heard of too many people here whining about getting 'ripped off,' by OPC only to discover that the never FOLLOWED UP to make sure they were getting comps. I know it sounds redundant and the reps at OPS are hard to track down sometimes, but the effort is worth NOT GETTING SCREWED!!!:D So to summarize..... 1. Fill out the web form. 2. 2 or 3 days later call OPC and verify. Be nice. 3. Don't get hosed. Right before your cruise, call again to verify a second time. Be nice. It's that easy. Don't rely on someone else to take care if it for you, MAKE SURE YOURSELF!

I have never gambled with more than $150 of my own money and usually less for the whole cruise, but I still fill out the form and get "gifts" with my next cruise (well usually). So even if you are not into it big time, still fill out the form. You never know.
KroozNut Posted November 1, 2008 #15 Share Posted November 1, 2008 Yeah, but how much do you have to feed thru the casino to get these comps? This is really the bottem line, and for some strange reason, people rarely want to discuss this side of the equation.. :)
jetwet1 Posted November 1, 2008 #16 Share Posted November 1, 2008 As others have said, the Carnival casino really isn't a "Vegas" type deal, you really have to play seriously to get anything. You will earn cash back on slot and video poker play, 1000 points = $10 cash back, from looking at it it takes about $3 in play on a video poker machine to earn a point ( I may well be wrong on that, but it is close) no idea on the slot machines. Table games they will rate you on your average bet and length of time played, the same as Vegas, I have no idea what they are looking for, I used to play pretty seriously and about every other cruise was comped, in my cabin there would be a bottle of wine and for my birthday I had a cake etc there when I got on board. nealthedeal Posted November 3, 2008 #20 Share Posted November 3, 2008 Carnival is the best at taking care of their bigger players. :) win or lose. Get to know the casino host & manager first. Ask for a drink on the house. Always put your card in the slot machine or give it to the pit boss at table games to get rated. They are happy tp take proper care of you or give you a drink or a shirt to make you feel special. Remember they want you to be happy they need you to come back!! :D
Kaboochi Posted November 3, 2008 #21 Share Posted November 3, 2008 Where do you apply for this? Do they send you a card? I'm used to the players card at Foxwoods & Mohegan. Is this similar? I do spend time in the casino and it would be nice to get a perk or two. Any info would be great. Enjoy the quiet before the holidays and "CHA-CHING!
