louanddave Posted November 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2004 Good Morning Does anyone know if there are shady areas near the pool so that my Mom can avoid being in the sun, yet still enjoy the pool area? Also does the library have audio tapes? Thanks Lou:confused:
sea-n-ski Posted November 4, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 4, 2004 The pool on the aft of the ship has some shady areas. The main pool has some as well. Not sure about the tapes in the library. Enjoy your cruise! Laura
Boston6 Posted November 4, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 4, 2004 The shady areas around the main pool are pretty much set up as dining areas and don't have lounge chairs. There are lots of shady areas along the sides of the ship, great for book reading, but you won't easily see or hear the pool area.
Marcys Posted November 4, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 4, 2004 Boston6...are these shady areas you're talking about on the pool deck or other decks? I also don't like sitting out in the sun, yet want to hear the music and be part of the party atmosphere.
Cruising89143 Posted November 4, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 4, 2004 The shady areas are on the lido deck. They run along both sides and as stated above is more for dining with tables and chairs but they can be hot as the breeze does not usually make it under the overhang. Also the pool area in the back that has the magradome can be hot also. It is kind of sunk down one deck with the dome over it. Even with the dome open it can be hot. The best place to sit outside is on deck three. This runs along both sides of the ship and they have padded deck chairs but no music. Very quite and a great place to read or grab a nap. Below is deck three from the Triumph but it is the same.
cruise pup Posted November 4, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 4, 2004 My problem with sitting on Deck 3 is invariably there will be workers either painting, hosing down the deck or doing some kind of repair work which leads to a lot of noise. Sometimes one side is even closed completely. It seems that sea days are the days they get their work done out there.
margaritawoman Posted November 5, 2004 #7 Share Posted November 5, 2004 We were on the Glory in June. No shade around the main pool area. You will need to go to the aft pool to find shade. The Glory has stadium seating around the main pool so they can seat more people, to me it is more crowded. We ended up on a side deck away from the pool so we could find some shade. You can find shade at the aft pool if you get out there early but it is mostly tables & chairs not alot of lounge chairs.
