Back to Back Cruises

I'm going on a B to B Cruise next week for the first time, same cabin, same ship. I have 2 docs. Do I have to get off the ship? Can I get off the ship? Can I get back in my cabin?

Ray - it depends what ship you are sailing, and from what port.

I have done 2 B2B's on the AOS and never had to leave the ship on turnaround day. Others that have done B2B's out of Florida have had to disembark and then embark again. Makes it easier if you have the same cabin for both weeks which you do :) You have 2 sets of docs, but be sure to do the online chek in for each week, and bring both of them with you.

Ooops, you also asked if you "can" get off the ship? Yes you can. Or at least we could in San Juan - you will need your new sea pass for the 2nd week in order to get off and get on again. Typically Guest Relations will contact you towards the end of the 1st week with details about turnaround day, where to meet etc., if you do need to disembark.

The exact process really depends on the ship, port, crew etc.....

However, it will go something like this.... midway through the week you will receive an envelope in your cabin giving the instructions for turn around day. You should also recieve your new sea pass cards in the envelope. (dont use these until turn around day!!!!) You can get off the ship at any time during the morning debarkation. You will have your new sea pass card already and instructions on where to reboard. If you choose to stay on the ship during debarkation, there will most likely be a time at the end of the morning debarkation ( somewhere around 10:30 if you arrived in port early that morning)... at that time of the meeting, a crew member will either process your new cards right there for you .... or you will have to walk off the ship... to let the ship numbers completely clear to zero... and then you will be walked back on the ship. ( this process will take maybe 15 minutes total). From that point, you are free to walk the ship. You can go back to your cabin.... but remember that the cabin attendants are busy cleaning and preparing for new arrivals. It is best to give them space to work. We found this was the best time to just sit by the pool deck and enjoy the complete silence and peace of the ship. It was also very exciting at this point to hear the crew announcements that new guest would be embarking in minutes..... and then watching as the new guests walked through the pool deck area in complete awe!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy your B2B.... they are wonderful!!!!!!

Make sure that you tell your cabin steward that you are doing BTB, and make sure that their assistant knows as well. I did BTB in January 2008, (same cabin for the second week) and when I got off the ship to clear customs, (as a formality I was told) the assistant steward came into the cabin and threw everything except what was hanging in the closet into the trash:eek:. The "head" cabin steward got sick mid-way through the first week and his assistant moved into his job so there was a little confusion with him. The pursers desk had our name on file and so the ship knew we were staying for the second week. Anyhow, just a heads up for you.

Just another variation...on the Navigator in the Med on the last night our new seapass cards were left on the bed in the evening with a letter saying if we were getting off the ship, please do so by 1030 and don't come back until 1200 (don't know why), or just stay on the ship and have it to yourself...and that was it. Just another heads up.. your seapass account does not carry over to 2nd cruise, so make sure you check it for your 1st cruise in the usual way on the last night and arrange to pay it off.

Normal. (if you don't want to go ashore)

1. Meet others doing b2b in designated area; (they let you know where)

2. Be escorted through customs;

3. Sit for a few minutes

4. Be escorted back where you have you picture taken again.

Abnormal. (if you don't want to go ashore)

No. 1 and 2 are the same.

3. Sit for two hours while Coast Guard inspects the ship.

4. Join all new cruisers as they stampede to get on as they have had to wait for the inspection to be concluded.

Agree that you have to advise your cabin person. Twice we have been in different rooms. By informing the cabin person where you are going to move that you would be comming, the move was extremely easy. They helped and we had very little to do.
