Which airport? RCL Mariner

Looking at Mariner for next April. Which Airport is easiest?

Mariner sails from San Pedro...

Of the LA area airports...

Long Beach (LGB) is 15 miles from the pier

LAX is 20 miles from the Pier

John Wayne (Orange County) is about 34 miles from the pier

Burbank is about (37 miles from the pier

Ontario is 60 miles from the pier...

Long Beach and Burbank are very small, easy to navigate airports

John Wayne and Ontario are medium-sized airports...

LAX is a monster...one of the largest and busiest airports in the world...

Don't use Ontario unless you absolutely have to...too remote from the pier and from everything else worth seeing in SoCal...

Use John Wayne only if you're doing a pre- or post-cruise at Disney...

Use Burbank only if you're doing a pre- or post-cruise at Universal or Hollywood...

Those two airports are convenient to those sites but a little far from the port...

Use Long Beach if you can...it's small, close to the port and easy to get in and out of...Problem is there are limited flights on limited airlines from limited places....If one of those few flights works for you, grab it...

Otherwise, you're going through LAX...It's really not as bad as some folks suggest, just big...So lines for check-in and/or security are often long...OTOH, there is an almost unending selection of flights and airlines to and from anywhere in the world...at all hours of the day and night...and lots of shuttles and taxis to get you to and from the port...and it's really a fairly short and quick distance away...even with typical LA traffic...except the cruise starts and ends on a Sunday, so it's really not even that bad...

Good luck...

...closest 2 airports would be Long Beach then OC, but LAX really isnt much further than OC...

WRONG!!!

LAX is MUCH closer than OC...

...and considering the more direct freeway routes from LAX to San Pedro, in some ways it's just as close as LGB...

We are on Mariner in March. The cheapest flight I found was into SNA and it will be going

out of CAK, which is very convenient for us since it's 5 minutes from our house. That

will be nice when we get home from the cruise!
