We are travelling to the PG in March. We are trying to decide which carrier. Due to work we will not be able to leave early. I am torn between having decent night sleep in LA and not arriving ship almost leaves and going AF and traveling all night but getting on the ship by 3pm.

Would love to hear from experienced folk

Thank you

Be on the ship by 3pm....Never, Never Never take chances with the airline (I am speaking from experience) Better to be early, then something goes wrong with your air transportation and you miss your cruise !!

You'll be able to grab a great nights sleep onboard!!!!

Our TA told us that ATN was much better than AF. We flew ATN in Sept. The flight was delayed until 4:00pm. (we were suppose to leave at 1:00pm) We arrived in Tahiti about 9:30 pm or so. The ship was waiting for another flight to arrive, so we didn't sail til 2:00 am. ATN seemed a little cramped, so I can't imagine what AF would be like. Happy Sailing, Rlf

We found the Air France 747 to be a great flight, the only "negative" being that it is a red eye...but that DOES assure you of being at the PG with plenty of time to spare. We were seated in coach at an exit door, had plenty of room and actually slept well (rare for me) for several hours of the flight. On arrival at Papeete we were taken to Le Meridien where we had time for a quick nap, lunch, a cocktail, and a bus ride to the PG at 2:30. A very nice beginning to a great trip!

Air France comes in from Paris and then continues down to PPT. It is usually very full. Most people far prefer Air Tahiti Nui over Air France. Flying in the night before is to me a killer. You are so tired and cant sleep when you get there. I have done it both ways and there is no comparision in my book. Air Tahiti Nui gets my vote.
