Just back: Conquest Cabin 6438

Just back Sunday from the Conquest, thought I would share about our cabin. We let CCL pick our "Balcony Guarantee" and we loved it.

First balcony- was really GREAT!

Port (left) side of ship, near very back. Noise didn't bother us; Very comfortable, nothing to complain about, although for seeing the ports, the other side would have worked better this trip, but not a worry. We had a queen (?) size bed and one sofa with a little (coffee?) table.

Felt little motion this trip (we like the ocean motion, rocky waves).

Some walking, from back of ship, level 6- but not a complaint.

Air temp- too cool so we turned it all the way up or off- and were completely comfortable the entire trip. Brought a little electric fan I didn't need.

First night the shower drain was a little slow, I couldn't figure out how to turn on the hot water. It was either locked on cold or was out of hot water. But that didn't happen again.

Porch light didn't work, but I'm sure they would fix that if we complained. We didn't care. TV remote didn't work, but they replaced that promptly.

Cabin steward was great, our only room service (first morning) was right on time. Towel animals every night. Clean and comfortable, and QUIET. Brought ear plugs and didn't use them.

Wish I was still there. I was looking for more info on our cabin, just thought I'd post this somewhere for others who want to know. We had a GREAT cruise.

Our porch light never worked either (whenever I tried it anyway). Adolpho, our steward did utter something about when it operates but I didn't pay any attention. Something about it only works at night and when not sailing.... I may have that wrong.

Thanks for the cabin review. We will be boarding the Conquest next weekend. Do you guys have fruit punch on the lido?

I don't recall fruit punch. Leomonaide and tea (I mixed the two), then guava juice (or something like that?) for breakfast. I didn't try that.

Sorry, no fruit punch that I remember.

Hello,

We are sailing the Freedom in room 6457 similar location but other side of ship.

Did you feel it took you forever to walk to the lido deck or an activity?

What ports did you visit?

Why would my side be better during port?

This is my first balcony and we are pretty darn excited.

Thanks

We did alot of walking, though we were close to an elevator, but since some decks don't go completely through to the other side.... we did alot of walking, since we were at the end of a hall, but it really wasn't too bad. We got use to the walking after the second day.

We visited Mo Bay, Jamaica; Grand Cayman; Cozumel.

Port side wasn't ideal on MY trip, because the ports were on the other side. In Cozumel our captain parked BACKWARDS, or we would have been facing Cozumel. You never know for sure, so I wouldn't really worry about that. We had hoped to get a pic of our cabin, but we never faced port to be able to do that, close up enough- anyway. For Jamaica it didn't matter, or Grand Cayman (tender port).

Had a fabulous time. Our first balcony also, and it was as good, or better than we expected. We spent more time in room or balcony than ever before. Slept with the door open a couple times.

You will have a great cruise, no doubt. Enjoy!

Ours did not work either and I don't think anyone else's were working either while we were at sea. I didn't mind sitting there without the light but it would have been nice to have that option to have it on at times.

Thanks for the review! I will be on the conquest in May on our first cruise ever. What did you guys do in mo bay? I have read so many different reviews we cant decide what to do.

In Mo Bay, we went to Mystic Mountain in Ocho Rios. Booked with Carnival, had a wonderful bus tour/guide. We enjoyed it alot, this was the best excursion overall. Zip linning was great, our first experience. I've been wanting to try this. We enjoyed the chair lift up the Mt (pretty views of the rainforest), a nice lunch, the bobsled (just ok), the infinity pool (we didn't have time to enjoy that, but it looks nice!). A nice lunch was included. I would recommend this!

I had read that noise from the Degas Lounge would be bothersome. We heard drums one time, and it wasnt late (at night).

Sometimes we could also hear some of the "night life", coming up from the casino I think, Ralph the CD- and some competition games going on, but it was never too bothersome, didn't keep me from sleeping on that very comfortable bed, and the noise seemed short lived. Never woke in the night to noise, though I did wake to look out the window a few times, and noticed it was quiet.

I had come prepared, with 2 elec fans (to block noise or keep cool); ear plugs, and MP3 Players/head phones. Never needed any of those. Come prepared, I guess you never know.

Never heard our neighbors either, except perhaps just once, some voices- but that was all, just once. Amazing I think. We've cruised before where noise was an issue, not this time!

You should have a fantastic time. Be warned though, this cruise went the quickest for me, out of all, over MUCH too MUCH too quickly. Bummer......

Well, I am excited. We will be in 6438 in September. It sounds fine although when I booked(1st cruise with carnival) the PVP or PCC(not sure what they are called) said that with carnival the "port" side of ALL carnival ships are always facing the port. When he told me that I didn't believe he had a clue...but I don't like people trying to fake me out. I don't think you ever know always which side of the ship to choose. I'm just happy to get back on a ship. The "noise" pretty much sounds like a non issue to me.

We are driving down to Galveston next week for a couple days just to do a preview of where to park and how to get to the pier. Really we just want to go somewhere and were looking for an excuse to do something. :D

EmmasNana, the TA's know EXACTLY what they're talking about! We had a great one on our wedding cruise. She told us the same thing about port side and it's completely true! It was awesome!

So you're getting the room before us ... too cool!!! Make sure they take care of it, now! :)

I hope you have a great trip. Be sure to report back and let us know how it was!!!!

ElizDawn, I do hope the port side really is facing port side, but if it isn't I wont let that get me upset. I will still have my binoculars out on the balcony looking at something. We are pretty excited about trying Carnival since we can just drive to the port. We are trying to not spend so much on vacations, so if we can save on airfare...well...that's icing on the cake!

We wont beat up the room too much:D We may want to use it again.

We had an OV last cruise and there was PLENTY of room under the beds for all our luggage (and it's CLEAN down there!). I'm sure we had more luggage than most since we got married on the ship and had all that stuff with us. Let's see ... we each had a suitcase, we shared a rolling garment bag, I had an overnight bag and a dive bag.

Also, there's lots of closet space, which was awesome!! No worries at all regarding storage space!
