Weather in Baltic in September?

We are thinking of going on the 12-day Rotterdam Baltic cruise leaving Copenhagen on 9/4/2009 and were wondering if anyone had done this cruise in early September. How was the weather? Were the seas rough? We've seen reports that the weather in Alaska can be quite cold at that time and were wondering how the Scandanavian weather compares.

But since it also can be unstable and change by the day, be prepared to dress in layers.
