tbmrt Posted November 18, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 18, 2008 We will be arriving at 5PM on the Freedom on 12/8. Moon is supposedly not good for BioBay. :( Since we will be at sea the day before and really will want to get off the ship, any suggestions for things to do in the evening appreciated. Thanks Barbara
RayInPR Posted November 18, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 18, 2008 The moon will be excellent for the biobay through Dec 4 and bad starting Dec 12. So your night of Dec 8 falls somewhere in-between. Personally, I wouldn't go on that night. Anyway, 5pm - midnight doesn't give you enough time to get from Old San Juan to the biobay (neither Fajardo nor Vieques) and back to OSJ. What else to do in your time frame? There are a couple of shows on Monday nights. You can wander around and look at the holiday lights. You can view the Earth from Above photo exhibit along Paseo de la Princesa. Possible the Segway Tour or horse/carriage rides in the early evening. Get some free rum drinks at Casa Don Q. You can follow our self-guided walking tour at night as well as during the day. Check back at our travel guide in about a week or so. By then we'll have written up reviews of some additional things you can do in OSJ at night. Hope this helps!
yankedog Posted November 19, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 19, 2008 We walked the city, stopped in the casino, and took a horse drawn carriage. Walking back seeing the ship all lit up was awesome!
Kitt Grey Posted November 19, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 19, 2008 I know nothing about San Juan. When you say casino do you mean in terms of gambling or is it like in Catalina a name for a large public meeting house like a ball room?
RayInPR Posted November 19, 2008 #5 Share Posted November 19, 2008 There are a number of gambling casinos throughout the island, with a concentration in the San Juan area. There's one in the Sheraton, located in Old San Juan right across the street from cruise ship pier #3.

arlodog Posted November 21, 2008 #7 Share Posted November 21, 2008 We also were there from 5pm to midnight. We did the Segway tour--45 minutes but wish we would have gone for 2 hours! The owner kept it open after his posted hours and I wouldn't have even thought of asking if someone on Cc hadn't told me to do it. We had a blast! After we were done we walked around OSJ for awhile and we went to the Sheraton and gambled for a bit and then went to the italian restaurant on the 2nd floor and had a cocktail on the balcony overlooking all the ships. Beautiful view. We had originally planned on going to one of the more popular restaurants--and trying some local cuisine, but there were so many people that we couldn't find anywhere that the wait wasn't horrid. We had a great time and learned a lot on the Segway tour. Highly recommend! Can't wait to go back to OSJ
