VAT Customs strike

Just got back yesterday, what a letdown to be home! Just wanted to let everyone know that the VAT stampers at the airport were on strike as of Sunday. Those who bought pearls or other expensive items could not get their forms completed for VAT refund. Does anyone know what we can do about it. I met a lot of angry people in the departure lounge.

Hmm, I had to do this in 2005 because my stewardess threw out my receipts. What a drag. Did you get your VAT refund directly from the retailer? I did, and so they were very helpful in getting the information to me, since they were on the hook for the money. If you have contact info with your retailer, that's the way to go. Sorry, I can't remember all the details, but it involved mail and faxes.

 

It's only set pearls, not loose, at least it was in 2005.
