Did I Do Good?

We were booked for a Category C cabin on our 14 day Maasdam cruise. Received a call from my TA this morning advising me that HAL was offering us an upgrade to a very nicely located Category B balcony cabin for $299 pp more. I was very interested in the upgrade but wondered if I should hold out in hopes that they would further reduce the cost of the upgrade. I finally decided to pay the $299 for fear that the upgrade would not be available at all later on if I held out. What would you folks have done?

 

BTW is this the same as what some have referred to as a category SB?

Excellent price for that upsell, IMHO. I would have jumped at that in a heartbeat from a C.

 

The SB categories are only on the Vista ships and the E'dam, not the Maasdam.

You will have a very nice mini-suite in a Cat B cabin. IMHO the Cat B's are the best value on the high seas. Personally, I think you made a very wise decision!

The so-called Mini Suites (Category A and B) on "S" Class ships are nice cabins and you'll now have a veranda. How could that be bad? !!!

In another thread a poster spoke about some categories being able to have breakfast in the Pinnacle. Does this Cat. B qualify?

You should be proud and yes you did good. Sorry though, the "B" class cabins or as some have called it "B" mini suite does not give you the same perks of the "S" class cabins. Enjoy your cruise on the Maasdam, she is a great ship with a awesome crew.

No, on your ship only the PH and S suites are eligible for breakfast in the PG.
