A colleague at work has booked a balcony cabin on the Solstice ( I think ) for next year. Someone had told her that it was no longer permitted to smoke in the balcony cabins. Her husband is a smoker ! As my DB and I do not smoke I could not help. Can anyone answer ?

Thanking you. :)

As of Oct 1, 2008, no smoking in staterooms, on balconies or in most public areas on Celebrity ships. There are designated areas topside and in casino. Check with Celebrity's website to find out where the smoking areas are on each ship.

This thread has an extensive discussion of the policy and it's attendant issues with room selection:

Our local newspaper had a bit of a review on the Solstice this weekend...in the article they said that smoking was not allowed in staterooms or balconies but there are public smoking areas around the ship. Your friend should probably check with Celebrity in case this is an error...

I am a smoker and contacted Celebrity a couple of days ago.

This was with regard to Constellation but I have to assume that similar circumstances will prevail on Solstice

Thank you for your email.

Guests are permitted to smoke in the following areas on the Celebrity Constellation:

Port side of the Bar at the Edge of the Earth

Port side of Resort Deck (not in the Solarium)

Port side of Sunrise Deck including Mast Bar

Port side of Fortunes Casino (Slot machines only)

Looks like a smoker will get their exercise

running around...but thats the way it is! :(
