teeredi2cruise Posted November 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2008 Hi, I posted this question on the port boards, but did not get a response. Hope you guys can help. Has anyone been to a casino in Freeport recently. We are a group of 30+ and over half like to hit casino's. Where if any are the casino's in Freeport? Thanks:confused:
oooohDonna Posted November 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2008 The casino is across street from Port Lucaya, (the shopping area) next to the Westin, think that's the hotel. You can't miss it when going to Lucaya. I was there April 2007 and lost..
-ClevelandRocks- Posted November 24, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 24, 2008 There's always taxis at the pier to take you to Port Lucaya. The casino would be a good place to visit, other than that, there ain't really much and NOTHING at the pier.

There are many beautiful beaches. You just have to know where to go. Our cruise Dec. 4 stops there only from 8-2 but I think we will go to Paradise Cove, not far from cruise terminal. It is very nice, good snorkeling, food and drink...Bahama Mama's, yum. If you have time to explore Freeport, I thought it was great!
FnyFACEnAL Posted November 24, 2008 #5 Share Posted November 24, 2008 I think the casino is the Isle of Capri. It is pretty expensive to get there (maybe $10/pp). We lost our money very quickly and were soon on our way back to the ship at another cab fare of $10/pp.

BND Posted November 25, 2008 #7 Share Posted November 25, 2008 Taxis to Port Lucaya are $5/person and they load each van before they will depart in either direction. I do not like Freeport and if we go back, will not go ashore. The casino across from Port Lucaya is nothing to write home about. It's not large and there was hardly anyone in there during the hours we were in port. There really isn't that much to see in Freeport and you are limited to a very small market area just off the ship if you don't want to pay for a cab ride to the marketplace where there isn't much to see either. teeredi2cruise Posted November 28, 2008 Author #8 Share Posted November 28, 2008 Thanks everyone for your feedback. I am not sure it will make much difference now as the ships itinerary has changed and we will be in port from 7:00 to 2:00 instead of 12:00pm - 7:00. I thought this would be a great time killer with the later port time.
gottago2mexico Posted November 29, 2008 #9 Share Posted November 29, 2008 The casino is conveniently located at the Our Lucaya Resort, across the street from the Port Lucaya Marketplace. You can share a taxi into Port Lucaya for $5 per person. Once there, you can enjoy the 16 restaurants and bars, straw market with Bahamian crafts, and many nice shops. You can walk across the street to the casino and try your luck at the slots and table games, then walk through the Our Lucaya Resort if you like, do some watersports onsite with Ocean Motion Watersports (parasailing, jet skis, windsurfing, banana boats, etc) or take a cab over to the Taino Beach park, where you'll have the beautiful beach almost to yourself. Since you'll be in port early, though, you may want to consider going out on a boat and go snorkeling. There are a couple of nice catamaran trips, private boat rentals, and some glass bottom boat trips, as well as the larger party boats like the Fantasia and Bahama Mama. The snorkeling is excellent, and being on a boat in the Bahamas is wonderful. Just some food for thought. Have a great time!
