Progesso/Freeport Bar or Self Excursion

I will be traveling on the Costa Med on Dec.21 thru Dec.26 and was wondering if anyone could recommend a cool little hangout near the ports in both Progresso and Freeport. I have heard Progresso is a little boring and if any self excursions worth doing. Also if anyone has info on what to do in Freeport on Xmas day as i'm sure most things will be closed. Thanks

I'll be in that same cruise and I'm doing some reaserch.

The Bahamas need bussines after the hurricanes and I believe most things will be open, but as soon as I find out, I'll let you know.

Thanks Maria, I have not been able to find out about any shore excursions from the Costa website and was hoping for any info on both ports. Look forward to seeing you aboard!!

While Progreso is not comparable to high energy Cozumel, they have many great excursions. The ocean is soo beautifully blue, I wish we could have stayed there longer! I went on the Hacienda Jeep tour and it was a blast. Look into it. You might also want to try the Progreso section under the "Ports of Call" area of this forum! :)

We'll be on that cruise, too. I've found that Costa's website isn't the easiest to navigate, but this is how I found the excursions:

 

Go to http://www.costacruise.com/costa/usa/costasite/ourfleet/mediterranea/homepage/htm

Click on Destinations

Click on Ship

Go to search a ship of our fleet, then Costa Mediterranea

Click on Caribbean

Click on December

Click on 21

Click on Availability at bottom left side of page

Click on Excursions

Then click on Freeport or Progreso for a list of excursions

If you click on each one, you'll get a pop-up description

 

There's probably an easier way, but I haven't figured it out yet

I have read that the Bahamas have their "Mardi Gras" called Junkanoo on December 26. I was wondering that since we will be in Freeport on Christmas that maybe events will be going on prior to the offical Junkanoo day. Any thoughts???
