henren Posted November 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 27, 2008 I am an Indian citizen working in the US . I am scheduled to sail on the NCL Pearl roundtrip from Seattle on May 31st 2009 . We have port stops in Juneau,Ketchikan,Skagway and Victoria . I am planning to take the Whitepass rail road excursion in Skagway , which I believe touches the Canadian border and also since Victoria is one of our ports , I would like to know the Visa requirements for Canada . Should I get a canadian visitor Visa (which is $75 pp) or is a Canadian Transit Visa (free of charge) good enough .. Any ideas?
cruiseryyc Posted November 27, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 27, 2008 I suggest you contact the closest Canadian consulate to where you live and ask them the question. I think they would be much better qualified to answer than the folks on this forum. The official governement website is http://www.canada.gc.ca, you might find your answer there. Urban trekker Posted November 28, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 28, 2008 Here's a link - yes you do need a visa but if you are in the US and have a Green Card it looks like you don't need one http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp Hope this helps Cheers Dennis

odblnt Posted December 20, 2008 #6 Share Posted December 20, 2008 I don't know what category you fit in for sure, but I do remember that on our cruise on the Pearl there were bags being loaded on the ship at our first stop, Juneau. When I asked, a crew member said that the bags were from passengers who needed a visa and had to go to the Canadian Consulate after the ship left and then catch up, so it is better to know in advance. Hi - were you able to get an answer from the consulate for this? Our closest consulate is detroit and they don't answer visa questions over the phone (and I'm not about to drive 4 hours to ask them). We're going on a cruise to Alaska with in-laws who are India citizens with a US visitor visa. Our last stop is in Vancouver (where the cuise ends), and we'll be flying out of vancouver 8 hours after the ship docks. I would have though a transit visa would work - can anyone confirm? Thanks!
