Its my birthday, anything special?

Hey folks,

I am turning 26 on the day we embark (Monarch of the Seas from LA to Ensenada April 23rd - 26th) and I am wondering if they will know its my birthday.

If I have to dance in a grass skirt on deck I want to be prepared!

Is it worth mentioning? If so, to who? Not trying to toot my horn but hey, its my birthday and I am on a cruise!

Tell your waiter when you sit down for dinner that night. After dinner they will sing to you at your table (the waiters). Not sure about the cake though. Perhaps someone else knows.

They don't do anything special any more. They used to bring you a cake and sing happy birthday at dinner but they now charge for the cakes. They may still sing but no cake unless you order it. I hope this helps!

Well here is a early HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you. On our cruise they did take cakes to the people that had a birthday and they sang to them. I am not sure if they would automaticly know this. You might have let your waiter know. I think I have read on the CC board somewhere that they are now charging for the cake.

Thats interesting, you can pay for in-room decorations.

We will not have our rooms assigned until we board. Is that really bad news? We plan on getting there very early.

We have booked through priceline,and they have taken note of our Birthdays.They are still asking about special events when you book,but will have to wait till Sept to see if they still do..because of the cake charge,that is.
BTW---bigmac78....are you perhaps a consultant for your name sake???

Our March 2004 Explorer cruise was a birthday cruise as 3 of my group celebrated birthdays while on board. I spoke with the head waiter and they delivered pieces of cake with candles and the wait staff stood around the table and sang Happy Birthday. There was no additional charge.

If you want to wear a grass skirt for your b-day, try Joes Crab Shack. We went there for my daughter's 17th b-day and they had her wear a grass skirt and do a hula dance. My dtr loved it, and we had fun watching!

Joes Crab Shack is cool, I have witnessed the birthday "show" and its a crack up.

brn2crz - Yes, I am a management consultant.

Question - My buddy and I plan on bringing our medication (alcohol, shhhhhhh). Are we gonna be in big trouble if they find my flask with my toiletries? What about vodka in my water bottle? hehe....

We are looking to have a good time, but not spend a ton of cash on alcohol.

We were on the Mariner a couple of weeks ago and our room was covered with birthday decorations. A little while later flowers arrived and a little later a cake. My husband and kids finally confessed to the decorations and flowers but nobody will claim responsibility for the cake....hhmmmmm?

I turned 37 on my last cruise and ended up with three cakes trying to find me (long story).

Here's what I found:
* You have to specifically request a celebration (I'd just assumed that it happened automatically)
* The cake was awful - typical "midnight buffet looks great but tastes like cardboard"

I did get a Swedish birthday card from my table mates, which was cool...
