Cattravel10 Posted December 1, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 1, 2008 For the past two years, I have done the Sea Otter and Wildlife Quest through the ship. This next June am thinking of doing something different, but the same kind of excursion. Who has booked with whom and how was your experience. And, how many people on the boat. I prefer a more personalized experience. Thanks!!
NancyIL Posted December 1, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 1, 2008 We went on a 4-hour wildlife cruise with Capt. Davey on the Esther G Sea Taxi last July, and it was a GREAT excursion. His boat takes only 6 people: http://www.puffinsandwhales.com
Yukon Posted December 2, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 2, 2008 Our 4-hour trip with Captain Davey in 2006 was so amazing ( http://www.youralaskacruise.com/reviews/alaskacruises2006/page4.html ) that we chartered the boat for the whole day (8 hours) in 2007 and then found 4 other people to share it with us ( http://www.youralaskacruise.com/reviews/2007/page4.html ) Murray
Marie321 Posted December 2, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 2, 2008 Davey of Esther G is WONDERFUL! You can't go wrong. Make sure he takes you to St. Lazarius.

Cattravel10 Posted December 2, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted December 2, 2008 Thx everyone for your responses. I've decided to go with Capt. Davey. It sounds wonderful. Now for my next question, does anyone have their E-mail address. I tried alaskadavey@qci.net and it came back to me. Hmmmm!
Yukon Posted December 2, 2008 #7 Share Posted December 2, 2008 Thx everyone for your responses. I've decided to go with Capt. Davey. It sounds wonderful. Now for my next question, does anyone have their E-mail address. I tried alaskadavey@qci.net and it came back to me. Hmmmm! GCI isn't the most reliable Internet/email provider in the world. It's almost certain to be just a temporary bump in the service - try it again later.
Marie321 Posted December 3, 2008 #8 Share Posted December 3, 2008 I've always just called Davey. He is great to talk to! Remember the time change for Alaska. Phone: Home (907) 747-6481 Cell (907) 738-6481
cookingmom Posted December 3, 2008 #9 Share Posted December 3, 2008 We are also interested in a kayak trip while in Sitka. Any specific suggestions would be appreciated!
Assateague Island Princes Posted December 4, 2008 #10 Share Posted December 4, 2008 We did the sea kayaking trip through HAL's shore excursions and weren't disappointed. It was really fun - took a Zodiac (bumpy ride!) out to a secluded cove, then got into two-man kayaks with 3 or 4 kayaks to each guide. The paddling was smooth and easy, even though it was raining it was gorgeous! We saw tons and tons of HUGE jellyfish in the water, it was just spectacular! Lots of eagles too. They pulled up a crab trap to show us as well. Our particular guide was very familiar having grown up in Sitka, and he told us many stories about the area, it was so much fun!
