moffl Posted December 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2008 Hi: i have a question we booked a cruise on the grand princess with a catagory j guarantee. I notice on our confirmation that we have a catagory ll inside. Is this a upgrade i don't know. I would like to know how the catagories work if there is any way of differentiating them
ugen512 Posted December 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2008 Thats an upgrade..very small one. Princess starts with Cat N lowest inside to II highest inside. OV is HH to CC, balcs are BF to BA, mini-suites AF to AA and then some others like PH(penthouse), OS (owners suite).
moffl Posted December 8, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted December 8, 2008 since this is a upgrade and on the lido deck is there much difference in the ship motion as opposed to the dolphin deck
Druke I Posted December 8, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 8, 2008 In moderate seas, there should not be much difference in motion between Dolphin Deck and Lido Deck. In heavy pitching seas, motion is more evident higher (lido). In rolling seas, the stabilizers do a pretty good job of reducing the roll. Some like to visualize pitching motion as like a teeter-totter, and rolling motion like a metronome.
ugen512 Posted December 8, 2008 #5 Share Posted December 8, 2008 It really depends how motion sensitive you are. It doesn't bother me at all actually like some motion at night, fall asleep quicker. If your sensitive you will probably feel a difference.
cherylandtk Posted December 8, 2008 #6 Share Posted December 8, 2008 Yes, being higher and more forward the II will feel more motion compared to the J on Dolphin. BUT motion really depends on sea conditions, and most people don't find the motion to be significantly different given the same sea conditions. That is important, because the Lido II rooms have easy access to the rest of the Lido pools, the spa and the somewhat 'hidden' public deck forward over the bridge. Not that you asked, but I would keep the II. ;)
Colo Cruiser Posted December 8, 2008 #7 Share Posted December 8, 2008 I agree forward on Lido will produce more movement. :)
