Dress Code on European Sailings

I'm sailing on the Classica next week and am interesting in hearing about evening dress for males on similar Southern European sailings. There are two designated formal nights. Were tuxedos popular on those nights or were suits/ties more prevelant? On non-formal nights, were standard shirts/slacks the norm or were sports jackets widely worn?

 

Being one of probably few Americans on the ship, I want to blend in with the crowd.
