I've done 2 two nighters. I personally had a great time..The cruise is more of a party cruise, but I find the quieter places to go. we're in our 50's and went with a bunch of girls. Alot of bachelorette parties........groups........We had a great time, and it seems as though everyone has fun.....Its all what you're looking for.

HI, Just wondering if anyone has done a Norwegian Cruise to nowhere from NYC? Just wondering where it sails to? Thought this might be a nice surprise for my sister and her son.

I have done three of them they meander off the coast of Long island just past 3 miles from shore and they are popular and crowded with people trying to cram a seven day cruise into one night...but they are a lot of fun too.

I have not done one yet,but I am researching. I would like to do a 2 nighter out of NY, but allI can find is a few under CCL. A 1 nighter just seems to short to pack for....:)

Check out the Dawn May 1-2. I think that's a 2 nighter.

Regarding the Gem in Jan., according to NCL's website, insides & OV's now sold out for both dates.

Are you sure we're not married to the same guy? My DH feels once a year is plenty for cruising and counts a one nighter as a cruise!:D

My Dh and I have our eye on the the 1/3/09 ctn. We did a CTN back in Sept on the Spirit and it was a blast. We were up most of the night and the ship was hopping but it was a great time and an awesome way to get away for the night. We do find a good price we will book and do the cruise as our Christmas gifts to eachother. I being cheap and waiting to get a great price...hopefully I can time it so we get a great price before the ship sells out!

My wife (41) and I (43) took the one-night 2007 Labor Day weekend "Cruise to No Where" from NYC and had a very positive experience. The ship heads out very slowly eastward and stays about 4 miles from Long Island. We booked this short get away cruise to celebrate our 15th Wedding Anniversary without our kids (ages 7 and 9). This was our 7th cruise (2nd with NCL, 2 w/Princess, 4 w/Carnival) and our first cruise to No Where. You can bet that it won't be our last.

We had read all the CC reader reviews about the Dawn, but found the one written by Cruise Critic's editor, Carolyn Spencer Brown (7/03/2007) "My Cruise to Nowhere on Norwegian Spirit" to be the most helpful in preparing for this one-night experience. These short voyages attract the partying, loud, gambling and drinking crowd, including a lot of bachelor/bachelorette parties.

We would definitely recommend the NCL Dawn to adults of legal drinking age (21+). There were a handful of children on board our cruise and the majority of the activities were not geared towards young children.

My mom and I took my nephew on the Dawn for the CTN last April. It was fine. It was different from longer cruises though. But we are not hard to please. Like others have said, the major difference is that everyone is trying to cram what they like to do on a 7-nighter into a 2-nighter. It's hard to get specialty restaurant and spa appointments and the casino is more crowded (and smokier) with higher minimums. But, you still get thet awesome feeling when the ship sails away and you are on it!

One other thing, on this CTN everyone took their own bags on and off the ship. It was a little trying for my 75 year old mom, but she managed (we tended to have a little more luggage since we combined the cruise with a few days in NYC).

Would I do it again? Absolutely.
