dcrow72 Posted December 18, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 18, 2008 we were there last month and left. No chairs. Rocky and choppy water and the staff at the Marriott were unfriendly and unhelpful. Wasted taxi fare times 5 of us. Had been told the kids could rent jet skis there and when we got there it was $150 for one hour guided tour per kid (times three!). Ended up at Emerald. see other posts re: Emerald.
LuvTheGoodLife Posted December 19, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 19, 2008 We were there in mid-November. Lovely as always. Beach was virtually empty. No problem renting chairs and unmbrella. Staff came around and offered opprtunity to order lunch or drinks. We had lunch at the beach bar. Water was wonderfully warm with mild surf. No problem getting cab back to ship from hotel lobby when we were done. We have done Morningstar for last 4 trips to St Thomas. It is our little beach secret - clean, uncrowded, quiet. I highly recommend.
das1727 Posted December 19, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Thanks for the great information. Is the beach bar restaurant named Coco Joes, also where should we tell the cab driver to drop us off. Thanks for your help
richtersl Posted December 19, 2008 #5 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Yes. The beach bar there is called Coco Joes. Just ask the cab driver to drop you off at Morningstar Beach. That's all you need to do.
cruzobsessed Posted December 19, 2008 #6 Share Posted December 19, 2008 for those who have been to both....which do you prefer...morningstar or emerald? let's throw sapphire in the mix:D
dcrow72 Posted December 19, 2008 #7 Share Posted December 19, 2008 maybe we just hit them on a bad day, but I wouldn't go back after finding Emerald. Better cab ride (no mountains/hills to climb over). Loved Sapphire a few years ago when we were there, but won't do the cab ride again.
The Islander Posted January 12, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 12, 2009 Of the three... if you wanted to snorkel then Sapphire. Check out a beach guide for St. Thomas for photos and information of those three and others, http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0geu6cJ32pJ9nwA4UhXNyoA?p=st.+thomas+beaches&fr=yfp-t-305&ei=UTF-8. --Islander
